We came in for a weekend and stayed at the Royal York. The building is beautiful and what I expected. It is not modern, which is part of the charm, and although the rooms are appointed with vintage furniture, the beds and linens are modern and comfortable. There is plenty of place for charging your electronics, and the TV was...

A grand hotel. Some rooms ready for renovation but that is to be expected in an old hotel. My main gripe is the bar fridge. I don't want or need a fridge full of alcohol. I want a fridge that I can store a little milk and medication. Creamer does not go in tea and a supply of milk would...

Dear K2K62, Thank you for your review. We hope that your visit was enjoyable overall though we apologize that our in-room refreshment centres (mini-bars) did not meet your expectations. We are happy to offer empty fridges upon request and there is no charge should this be required for medical purposes. Best regards, Edwin

Tremendous stay for the first time in Toronto. Hotel personnel very helpful and curtious. Close walking distance to everything, transportation service impeccable, only one little hick, was noisy thin walls... but all in all very nice stay.

The hotel is in a great location, right opposite the main railway station which now has a direct line to the airport. There are plenty of restaurants a short distance away. Note, you will find bottled alcohol for public sale difficult to find so do check with the doorman for directions to the nearest outlet. The public areas of the...

Stayed 3 nights at the Royal York. Great location across from Union Station and a short walk from the Rogers Center. Close to shopping and restaurants. This is my second time staying at the Royal York. Staff always very helpful and friendly. The rooms were very clean.

So I stayed here last week for a business conference. One of my work colleagues also stayed there on the same days. I stayed two nights at the Royal York. Excellent hotel. Great location near the train station and the airport express train. Good restaurants nearby. The cost was high, but the company paid for the trip.

A hotel I used to use regularly in the 80's, its standards are just the same, and so are the amenities. Whenever I travel through Toronto, I like this place to stay overnight. Service has been always good, and I also like the access to the gym. The concierge service is good and I have always been given accurate and excellent advice - being it for sport events or simply shopping.

Staying in Downtown West

Neighbourhood Profile
Downtown West
Downtown West is home to Toronto's gorgeous Inner Harbor, and is a must-visit for lovers of art and the outdoors. The area's rich cultural heritage is celebrated by a number of monuments and museums, giving the neighborhood a mature feel. As a premier destination for modern art, people here stroll through the cool contemporary pieces at the Power Plant, enjoy the outdoor installations along Queen's Quay and Canoe Landing, and picnic among the zany designs of the Toronto Music Garden. The waterfront itself is often suffused with bikers and joggers, and the harbor is always packed with classic ships with masts raised. The vintage boats and ferries to the Toronto Islands make for a charming contrast against Downtown West's backdrop of skyscrapers, condos, and food trucks serving up hot, fresh fare to locals on the go. The area has a peaceful energy, and is popular with tourists and Torontonians alike.
