Booked ahead..read the reviews..thought it can't be that bad..yes it was and worse! We couldn't stay and ended up canceling our reservation half hour after arrival. My head was aching from the musty moldy smell and my cheeks were on fire. The plus was Al at the front desk ! He could see we were not able to stay there for... More

This hotel is absolutely horrible. There has not been any effort to update or modernize since it was built likely in the late 70s. There is mold in the bathroom, the furnishings are sad but worst of all there is that lingering smell of smoke, really heavy, overwhelming smell. The carpets are filthy and the hallways are horrible. I can't... More

Sorry to hear you do not have an enjoyable stay with us. This property is scheduled for a complete re development which will address the condition of the hotel, however, we do offer great value for the Yorkville area. As for the smoking smell, any guests smoking in their guestrooms are investigated and dealt with accordingly. My apologies. More

Made a good deal via Expedia but when I arrived, the clerk said my reservation was cancelled. They had rooms available but they were at least double the price. I made a quick reservation because of certain events and figured I would iron it out later. No rooms were available YET but would be within the hour. When we went... More

This hotel is situated at three minutes walk from Yorkville, a fabulous shopping area. Because Howard Johnson offers very good deals, you can save money which then can be spent on some fabulous shopping... The hotel staff are extremely helpful: we were given coffee and tea on arrival after having been involved in a car crash, thanks Michael for reassuring... More

This was a cheap place to stay in a good location. The shower made so much noise that it was too loud to have a shower without disturbing the neighbours. The breakfast was a typical light breakfast. The beds were comfortable and the room was a good size.

The hotel is tired, needs decorating and sprucing up but don't let this put you off as I believe a regeneration programme is in hand and the price is reflective of this. As locations go, this is superb. Right in the centre of the bijou Yorkville shopping area and just one block away from Bloor Street East/West and Museum subway... More

For the location and what was paid, it was a pretty decent place to stay. Not a long walk to get downtown, about 25 minutes. Also in a decent neighbourhood with a few restaurants down the street. Staff was friendly and helpful. Would stay here again without a doubt.

To find an affordable hotel in this toney part of Toronto was a thrill in itself, but I also loved my room: 702. It's right off the elevator, but because there is a hallway from the door to the room, the noise from the elevator is muted, and I heard little of other guests (one toddler whose parents made that... Staying in Midtown

Neighbourhood Profile
Midtown
Midtown is a dynamic part of Toronto with some of its most stylish high-rise residences and heritage buildings. The area sees busy shoppers with bag-laden arms balancing lattes in paper cups as they travel from one luxury brand to the next, taking advantage of the proximity of high-end shops. The reflecting pools, jogging trails, and nature treks of the Rosehill Revision are always a hub of outdoor activity, and after a workout from either running or splurging, many take advantage of the spas and massage parlors Midtown has to offer. Away from the bakeries, boutiques, and glamorous old theaters of the district's center, locals use the weekend to embrace the more suburban feel of Midtown's parks, tennis courts, outdoor markets, and the manicured grounds of Casa Loma, while families indulge the area's state-of-the-art playground and learning facilities. Of course, no high-brow district is complete without a healthy counter-culture: Midtown boasts some of the wildest street art and full-wall graffiti of any neighborhood in Toronto.
