We chose this hotel for the location – close to the subway and to family we were visiting. It worked really well for us. Our bed was comfortably firm and we had a good, quiet night’s sleep. We had one shared bathroom on our floor for three bedrooms plus use of the one upstairs if needed. The bathroom on our...

First of all you can ignore Aeusher review below, i arrived here on the same night she was here and after a 8 hour flight from the uk, she told me to be quiet moving my luggage into my room. She then refused to say good morning, when I tried to engage her in a conversation the following morning. She...

Booked for one night through an external website. It is not an Inn or a bed and breakfast, but is almost like a short-term stay rooming house of sorts. There are no staff on-site; you are sent an email with the entry code to the building. The owner forgot to leave a key to my room, so I had to...

I have mixed reviews of this place. I am aware that there is no reception but I was not prepared to have the door opened by other guests with a vacuum cleaner sitting on the carpet square in front of me. I had arrived for the first time in Canada and had just got off the plane and therefore felt...

This is a small bed and breakfast just minutes away from the subway in a quiet section of downtown Toronto. An all you can eat continental breakfast is provided each morning. While I was there the selections included bagels, bread for toasting, fruit, yogurts, tea, coffee, juice, donuts, eggs, and American cheese slices (not sure why the website says cheddar--maybe...

We are in our 70's- were never backpackers in the 60's- but we have had a wide and wonderful experience of accommodations across Canada and around the world. For value, privacy, and location- I could not have asked for a better place to stay for our 48th anniversary celebratory weekend than the Downtown Home Inn. We reserved online and were...

We had the basement room for a mini vacation. This was one of the most comfortable and clean places we've ever stayed--although the bed was a full or small queen. To be honest, for the price, I did not have high hopes. This place delivered far more than we expected. The staff was open and responsive. The breakfast had more...

This place is just fantastic! The beds are fantastic, the hosts were amazing and it is in a good place for a base. About 10 mins on train to union station and considerably cheaper than the big lifeless hotels in the centre of town! Plus much cheaper! Breakfast was laid out perfectly and you could eat as much as you...

First of all I was amazed by an e-mail received from Bryan shortly after I booked a room at Downtown Home Inn. In his e-mail he described everything that might be needed for a person first time visiting Toronto. He explained how to enter the property if nobody is there, there was a point in google maps as well as...

I stayed at the Downtown Home Inn for three nights and would highly recommend this as a place to stay. It's in an excellent location very close to public transport and lots of bars and cafes. The staff are very friendly and love helping guests new to town with tourist information. Very clean room and facilities. I'll definitely stay there...

Staying in Downtown

Neighbourhood Profile
Downtown
At the heart of Toronto, Downtown is the destination for cheap eats and fast fashion. Cut through by hip and trendy Yonge Street, the vibe here is young, with a strong student influence from the Ryerson University Campus. As a result, the Downtown area is always in flux: undergoing the construction of new facilities, with fresh retail spaces and pop-up cafes. Home to Toronto's largest indoor shopping mall, a number of vintage cinemas, and a healthy nightlife centered on the area's Distillery District bar and clubs near the East End, it's both an easygoing daytime spot and a popular party place after sunset. It also features some of Toronto's best outdoor landmarks, including Yonge-Dundas Square and the Nathan Phillips Square: perfect for a concert, a skate, or a relaxing sit-down.
