Not sure why everyone is hating on this hotel.. yes it is small and yes it is very quirky... but if that's what you are after then perfect! Each room appeared to have a theme - ours was Africa. We had a lovely big bed, a small tv that didn't work (but who traveled to watch TV anyways), a bath...

I was put off at first after reading the other reviews, but I didn't have to worry at all. Perfect location for seeing everything old Montreal and the rest of the city have to offer. Cosy reception, and was even greeted by someone offering to carry my bags in. Check in was easy and all the staff were friendly and...

We actually didn't stay here after waiting 30 minutes to be checked in by an unkempt front desk person. We asked to just view our room and when we did, it was already cleaned but it was filthy. Mold in the bathroom, just dirty all around. We told him very politely that the rooms (2) were not adequate and were...

Not a pleasant stay at this hotel, the location is good. But the room is just too small, I've got hit on the walls so many times for one single night. We 're just lucky to have a parking spot in front of the hotel, but must leave before 7am, the night staff is not friendly at all, but the...

Booked on short notice because it was cheap and was near Old Montreal (Vieux Montreal). Definitely not fancy and the rooms were a bit dated, but very clean, unique, and everything worked. Staff was very friendly and helpful. Besides price, best thing was location: walking distance to historic sites in Old Montreal (straight down Rue Ste Denis to the Old...

The hotel was dirty and uncomfortable. The bed actually made our whole bodies sore. The toilet and shower are in the room itself, both hidden behind their respective curtains. The AC wasn't that great and the key to the door was attached to a huge wooden block. The room is small, but that's not too bad.

Paid 165$ for a room that was worth 50$ a night....terrible place, even if it was free i would never go back there...room looked nasty. The tv is as big as a computer screen, there was no dvd player and there was supposed to have one! No refund...No mini fridge...You would think that since you pay 165$ that your gonna...

Very bizarre hotel. The room was cave-like, and quite large with a little kitchenette. Bed was uncomfortable but not the worst. The part that got me was the lighting... It was so dark even during the day.

Staying in Chinatown

Neighbourhood Profile
Bakeries, markets, restaurants, and buffets crowd the brightly graffitied streets of Chinatown, the city's aromatic destination for pan-Asian cuisine. Distinguished at its entry points by towering vermillion paifang gates, the compact neighbourhood acts as a focal point for the Chinese community, hectic with educational facilities, cultural centres, acupuncturists, and foreign-language newspapers. Especially vibrant in the warmer months, when the sweet smell of dragon beard candy along the pedestrian walks of Rue de la Gauchetière signal the beginning of the outdoor street fair season, Chinatown is a treasure hunter's dream, with enough knickknack and curiosity shops to tempt even the pickiest shoppers. The convivial vibe picks up after dark, when the area's active nightlife offers evening crowds their choice of drink, dance, and midnight snacks of pho or oysters. Chinatown's mix of new and old, with herbal remedies being sold alongside pop-culture DVDs, gives the area its own animated brand of moxie.
