Period hotel - he said. Free upgrade - he said. Truly quaint, archaic more like. Noisy - people in the street below our bedroom window until 3 am. Then the dog belonging to the hobo / tramp sleeping in the doorway opposite started howling at about 4 am. Then the street cleaning truck about 6 am followed by divery trucks...

AUBERGE DU VIEUX-PORT This hotel was everything I had hoped it would be. From the moment we stepped from the taxi we were genuinely welcomed and that attitude continued through our three day stay. The lobby is small and attractive, the rooms are large and attractive. The bathroom was large and beautifully redone with a rain shower and separate tub,...

The service at this beautiful old vintage hotel (for the most part) was very good. They were courteous and helpful. Five stars go to Matthieu who uncannily anticipated our needs before we did. The location was great - central to all the restaurants, shops, and attractions. On the upside, the food at the Gaspar restaurant was excellent (The scallops and...

we just returned home to Indiana after a 2 night 3 day stay at Auberge du Vieux-Port . To say it was beautiful, met all of our expectations, and wonderful place to celebrate our 25yh anniversary is an understatement. We enjoyed our taxi ride from the airport to Old Montreal as our driver pointed out the sites and recommendations. Upon...

Central location on the St. Lawrence River in 'Old Montreal'. Historical, charming, relaxed, quaint Everyplace in 'Old Montreal' in pleasant walking distance. Roof top Terrace sur L'Auberge overlooking port added touch. The staff was very accommodating with one absolute outstanding exception "Frederic Tremblay" His efforts made our stay just wonderful.

I am hesitant to write this review as I do not want the unique charm of Auberge du Vieux-Port to be ruined by popularity. But alas it is time to give kudos where kudos is due. Steps away from the water, beautiful views of the port and steps from the restaurants along Place Jacques Cartier. A few minute walk to Notre Dame. The hotel itself is rustic chic with very friendly staff.

The hotel is located in the heart of the tourist district in the old city. There are numerous shops, restaurants, and attractions within a very short walk. Dear Guest, We sincerely thank you for taking the time to share your experience you had with us at the Auberge du Vieux Port. Staying in Vieux-Montreal (Old Montreal)

Neighbourhood Profile
Vieux-Montreal (Old Montreal)
The historic centre of Montreal, Vieux-Port is home to some of the city's most antiquated buildings and picturesque streets. Along the waters of the St. Lawrence River, the bank of Old Port features museums, festivals, food stalls, and outdoor athletics, a celebrated part of the city that explodes into fireworks displays on warm summer nights. At its centre, street performers and artists compete with sprawling restaurant terraces for space along Jacques-Cartier Square, while the cobbled streets of Rue St. Paul and Rue Notre-Dame offer a reprieve of quiet galleries and atmospheric wine bars. Horse-drawn carriages are not an uncommon part of traffic, and the narrows they traverse are lined with boutiques, crêperies, and poutine shops enshrined in buildings of stone and wooden lattices. Here you can evoke Montreal's past with a traditional cooking lesson or historical tour, then enjoy its artistic present with live music and theatre.

Official Description (provided by the hotel)
A symbol of Old Montreal's rich history, Auberge du Vieux-Port is the area's only hotel settled along the Saint Lawrence River. The two structures that house its 45 rooms are over a century and a half old and once operated as warehouses, back when the waterway still forged city's life vein. With a classic, skillfully crafted make up, the idyllic inn's decor and architecture breathe an air of authenticity. Embrace time-honoured scenery, complemented by our team's warm, personable services. ... more   less
