This hotel was in a perfect location in Old Montreal, across from the Saint Lawrence River. We had a very picturesque view, due to being so near the river. Once we parked our car(valet at the hotel) we didn't need it again until we left! Everything you want to see and do is in walking distance. In addition, you are...

My wife and I and another couple spent two nights at the Auberge du Vieux-Port. Not only is the hotel charming, taking advantage of the old buildings that line the port, but the staff couldn't have been more friendly, efficient, and helpful. There is a great roof top terrace, where we had the good fortune to view the Canada Day...

We spent our wedding anniv in Montreal & picked this hotel based on location and good reviews. It exceeded our expectations. Wonderful & spacious room on 4th floor with a park and port view. Loved opening the windows and listening to the sound from the cobblestone street below. The entire staff were so helpful and attentive to all our requests....

A true Boutique Hotel. The decor is sublime, the service very attentive to detail, the quality of the rooms is quite high. The whole experience is a great value. On the front of the Hotel are great views. If you seek a medium stay, they also offer apartments around the corner for rent.

Hotel is what you can expect from a high end boutique hotel - what you give up in amenities (gym, pool) they make up for in a beautiful and clean room. Great location - beds were amazingly comfy - people working there were kind and courteous. The only reason it gets four instead of five stars - i paid extra...

My wife and I spent 10 days at the hotel during the Canadian Grand Prix and thoroughly enjoyed the stay. The hotel is in the heart of the old town and close to just about everywhere. We both enjoy walking and to be honest there is petty much nowhere in the City, in particular the shopping district, that you cannot...

We stayed at the hotel for a week during the recent womens' world cup. The room was pretty, with an exposed brick wall and hardwood floors. The bed was very comfortable and the shower was amazing. I was concerned about street noise given other reviews I had read (and because I'm a light sleeper), but this was not a problem....

My wife and I stayed at Auberge du Vieux Port on the recommendation of a friend. The staff were super friendly, spoke very clear English and accommodated all our requests. This was a beautiful hotel in a fantastic location. Close to shopping and restaurants yet very quiet with little street noise. The room was fairly small. I was hoping it would be a bit larger because we did reserve the Deluxe River View room but the window was so tiny you could not see the river. The hotel is expensive...

This hotel combines 19th-century charm with modern day comforts. Our fifth-floor room featured an exposed brick wall, uneven old wooden flooring, and two delightfully tall French windows that opened to fresh-air breezes and a good view of the river front. Attractive, vintage-style metal head and foot boards (in antique white) framed a very comfortable king-size bed. And if you're into...

Staying in Vieux-Montreal (Old Montreal)

Neighbourhood Profile
Vieux-Montreal (Old Montreal)
The historic centre of Montreal, Vieux-Port is home to some of the city's most antiquated buildings and picturesque streets. Along the waters of the St. Lawrence River, the bank of Old Port features museums, festivals, food stalls, and outdoor athletics, a celebrated part of the city that explodes into fireworks displays on warm summer nights. At its centre, street performers and artists compete with sprawling restaurant terraces for space along Jacques-Cartier Square, while the cobbled streets of Rue St. Paul and Rue Notre-Dame offer a reprieve of quiet galleries and atmospheric wine bars. Horse-drawn carriages are not an uncommon part of traffic, and the narrows they traverse are lined with boutiques, crêperies, and poutine shops enshrined in buildings of stone and wooden lattices. Here you can evoke Montreal's past with a traditional cooking lesson or historical tour, then enjoy its artistic present with live music and theatre.

Official Description (provided by the hotel)
A symbol of Old Montreal's rich history, Auberge du Vieux-Port is the area's only hotel settled along the Saint Lawrence River. The two structures that house its 45 rooms are over a century and a half old and once operated as warehouses, back when the waterway still forged city's life vein. With a classic, skillfully crafted make up, the idyllic inn's decor and architecture breathe an air of authenticity. Embrace time-honoured scenery, complemented by our team's warm, personable services. ... more   less
