My wife and I enjoy riding bikes (leisurely, nothing strenuous) and brought our bikes when we visited Montreal. We were pleasantly surprised to fine a major bike path on Rachel street in front of the hotel, and we were able to ride to Mount Royal in one direction and the botanical garden in the other, plus connect to bike routes...

We were coming to Montreal during the Jazz Festival and the International Fireworks Competition. So, hotels were priced on the high side. The rate for this Auberge seemed fair so we booked for three nights. Two outstanding aspects deserve mention right away: 1. The Staff: Very friendly and helpful...before and during our visit. 2. The Breakfast: It's one of the...

I expected a cosy, little place with nice rooms and service. What I got was a nice front of the building. The room I got was incredibly small, bed was hard, there was no hot water (fixed later) and the traffic from the road right outside was very loud. The AC was loud too. Parking outside was ok if you...

When planning our trip to Montreal, a local friend recommended the Auberge de La Fontaine because of its great location on the Plateau neighborhood of Montreal. I corresponded with the hotel a few times in the months leading up to our trip and they were always prompt and very professional. On the day of our arrival we had some difficulty...

Auberge de la Fontaine fit my family perfectly! It is small and quiet on a tree-lined street across from the park, and a nice walking distance from the hustle and bustle! The cheese and pate and croissants at breakfast were delicious, and the room was pretty and nice sized. Great choice for feeling at home in this great city.

Last summer my husband and I stayed at this small hotel, located across the street from a beautiful city park. We wanted to stay in a new neighborhood and this fit the bill perfectly. It was easy to drive to, parking was available on the street (the small lot was filled) and the neighborhood was just what we hoped for....

Since getting married three years ago my wife and I enjoy "mini-moon" getaways. Montreal was the perfect city for some R & R. Auberge de La Fontaine was the perfect B & B. It's located in La Plateau (a non-tourist part of town) which insured our spirit of adventure. However, a metro was close enough so that we felt we...

We actually stayed here in 2012 but did not know about Trip Advisor then so decided to write a review now. We had a lovely experience here from the friendly, helpful staff to the amazing whirlpool tub in our spacious bathroom and the delicious breakfast (which we were allowed to take and have in our room). Plus there was a...

I came to Montreal to attend a conference at Palais des Congrès, but wanted to avoid the convention hotel experience which, over the years, has become tiresome. We decided that staying in a district off the city center would be fun. Auberge, located in "Le Plateau", turned out to be the perfect place for such an experience. Close to great...

Staying in Le Plateau Mont-Royal

Neighbourhood Profile
Le Plateau Mont-Royal
Go native in Plateau Mont-Royal, where bespoke shopping, hip eateries, and wacky paint jobs attract locals and transplants alike, making it one of the city's most diverse and distinctly authentic experiences. A creative hub, Montreal's artistic elite pack the cafes along Rue Saint-Denis, where young painters and fashion designers draw inspiration from the playful murals and stately Victorian homes that dot the Plateau's side streets. Not a major sightseeing destination, a visit to Plateau Mont-Royal allows you to enjoy a local perspective, soaking in indie films, latte art, contemporary galleries, and the city's best bagels. A center of polyglot culture, Québécois accents mingle with shades of Portuguese, Greek, and Hebrew in the area's iconic Mile End district, where restaurants straddle chic designer boutiques, serving up chorizo and caldo verde. Friendliest to those on foot, it's a jungle of colourful awnings and sidewalk umbrellas, pedestrian walks and luxury shopping.
