Booked this hotel as the midway point for a New England and Quebec road trip with my family for the summer. Very easy to find in the maze that is downtown Montreal (I don't speak French). We were warmly greeted and checked in very easily. The room (Room 201) was exactly as requested. As other reviewers noted, LHotel has a...

Dear ChrisMcNeely, We would like to thank you for this very kind review. It is always reassuring for our guests to hear that, despite the language barrier, Montreal offers an exciting vacation destination for all who wish to discover the beauty and culture of our city. We are so glad our bilingual staff was able to sooth your concerns and...

I don't even know where to begin - L'Hotel is a cool, quirky, very European-style boutique hotel right in Old Montreal - very different from the chains my husband and I tend to visit. We were treated to a 2-room suite with 12-foot ceilings, funky modern art and a spotless bathroom you could park an SUV in. The front desk...

We are so glad that you enjoyed the artwork, on-suite room, bath and continental breakfast buffet. Our winter dining room certainly...

This hotel is very well located as it is only a couple of blocks from Notre Dame, a few wonderful restaurants (Olive and Gourmando, Barraco, etc.), a stop for the Hop-on & Hop-off buses as well as a metro stop for Place-D'Armes. Our room felt quite large with the tall ceiling heights and a nice soaking tub. The bed and...

Lots of choices for hotels in this wonderful city. We made a good choice because it looked like alot of fun, and it was! Montreal has a number of well defined areas and since your hotel can't be in all of them, this is as good a starting point as any. Not too far from Montreal's excellent transportation system so...

Dear Aubergaz, Thank you for taking the time to share your experience on Tripadvisor. We are so glad that you enjoyed your time in our beautiful city of Montreal. Your mention of the parking situation in Montreal is extremely accurate. Our valet service is a great advantage for our guests, however, as you have said, a car-free vacation if definitely...

We picked LHotel primarily for it's location, price, and Tripadvisor reviews- and we weren't disappointed. Location: A short walk to the sights of Old Montreal and the metro. I generally like hotels that are close, but slightly removed, from the hustle and bustle of the tourist sights. There are lots of shops and restaurants to browse as you walk (and...

Great hotel in the centre of town. There is a bar and the hotel has an interesting vibe and theme. It is close to shops and restaurants. Our room was huge with high ceilings and a good bathroom. Arrived at LHotel several hours prior to check in and they gave us our room early. The front desk staff was VERY accomodating and helpful as were all bellmen. Staying in Vieux-Montreal (Old Montreal)

Neighbourhood Profile
Vieux-Montreal (Old Montreal)
The historic centre of Montreal, Vieux-Port is home to some of the city's most antiquated buildings and picturesque streets. Along the waters of the St. Lawrence River, the bank of Old Port features museums, festivals, food stalls, and outdoor athletics, a celebrated part of the city that explodes into fireworks displays on warm summer nights. At its centre, street performers and artists compete with sprawling restaurant terraces for space along Jacques-Cartier Square, while the cobbled streets of Rue St. Paul and Rue Notre-Dame offer a reprieve of quiet galleries and atmospheric wine bars. Horse-drawn carriages are not an uncommon part of traffic, and the narrows they traverse are lined with boutiques, crêperies, and poutine shops enshrined in buildings of stone and wooden lattices. Here you can evoke Montreal's past with a traditional cooking lesson or historical tour, then enjoy its artistic present with live music and theatre.
