Check in was at 3pm. We arrived at 3h50pm and waited 45 minutes for our room. After 30 minutes the desk clerk was ready to give us a mini-suite but her supervisor told her to wait at least another 10 minutes in hope that our room would be ready. They finally gave us the key to our standard room so...

My wife and I were honored to stay in such lovely place, where the classic history meets modern design. The stuff was super helpful and friendly! Everyone, all the front desk employees, all the door men, ....they all were absolutely wonderful! Despite the fact that we've traveled in off season, the hotel was pretty busy, especially the restaurant, which we...

This is our fourth visit to this hotel and as ever the room was great, the service excellent and the bar and restaurant very inviting. We have recommended Hotel Nelligan to friends who have raved about it also. We don't stay anywhere else now when we are in Montreal.

You will enter this historic boutique hotel to be greeted by a welcoming staff and may be checked into your suite early. You may enjoy the lovely view of the cobblestone street until 2 am when the Philomen Bar across the street might jar you awake from a sound sleep. The thumping music followed by drunken screams will last until...

Staying in Vieux-Montreal (Old Montreal)

Neighbourhood Profile
Vieux-Montreal (Old Montreal)
The historic centre of Montreal, Vieux-Port is home to some of the city's most antiquated buildings and picturesque streets. Along the waters of the St. Lawrence River, the bank of Old Port features museums, festivals, food stalls, and outdoor athletics, a celebrated part of the city that explodes into fireworks displays on warm summer nights. At its centre, street performers and artists compete with sprawling restaurant terraces for space along Jacques-Cartier Square, while the cobbled streets of Rue St. Paul and Rue Notre-Dame offer a reprieve of quiet galleries and atmospheric wine bars. Horse-drawn carriages are not an uncommon part of traffic, and the narrows they traverse are lined with boutiques, crêperies, and poutine shops enshrined in buildings of stone and wooden lattices. Here you can evoke Montreal's past with a traditional cooking lesson or historical tour, then enjoy its artistic present with live music and theatre.
