We erred in booking this hotel. The public areas smelled of ancient tobacco and dirt. The elevator stopped working on the 2nd day of our stay and we were on the 3rd floor. Employees told us it was working, but it was not. We tried to get to the 3rd floor and doors would not open. We pressed other buttons...

We checked in and the room was not ready. Aside from that, the rooms looked old and unclean. The air conditioner was not working very well either. After reporting all of these, we were told that it takes time for the air conditioner to cool. Coming back from dinner, the air conditioner was still not working at its optimum level...

This hotel was a short walk to the old city places to see. The concierge upon arrival helped us with a map to locate a nearby public parking which had more reasonable rates than the ones closer the the hotel. The room was quiet and had tv and a bathroom with shower. The carpet of the corridors are old and...

Price was wrong by $30 but gave us the price listed and parking hasn't been part of the package in 2 years. Hotel is on a one way street. Dividing blocks of St. Catherine's st that are closed to automobiles. In these areas restaurants flow out onto the streets as type of a patio or European style dining experience. Covered...

The price is low. The place is a bit run down but everything worked. The free continental breakfast was quite nice and brought to your room when you schedule. The sheets and bathtub did not appear to be as clean as I like. Overall I'd recommend the place. The location is great to access The gay village and old Montreal.

Stayed one night. Located walking distance from St.Catherine and St.Denis streets with lots of night action. Reception personnel friendly, got a non-smoking room as I requested, with free good quality wifi. Tiny room with small fridge, bed and bathroom ok, but no sound proof whatsoever (kept hearing people talking in the corridors until 3am). Room kept getting warmer during the...

Breakfast was good always on the schedule time. Clean and comfortable bed, nice size bathroom. A water problem the first day on the building, noise construction work next door to the hotel, very convenient location near to downtown Montreal, the villages, latin quarter two blocks away from the metro and bus stations. Friendly and helpful front desk personnel, especially Gabriel,...

So this was booked through Hotwire (who by the way misrepresented the property in more ways then one) - the property is located within Le Village one block in - it is 3 minute walk to Berri-Quam metro station - 20 minute walk to Old Montreal. The main strip Set Catherine is right out the door of the hotel -...

Fresh croissants delivered to your door with coffee. Steps to the Metro, the bus to the airport, and restaurants and shops. This hotel charges half what others do -- and Canada is already a bargain. If you are single and love savng money, this is your spot. Rooms are basic but clean. Yes they are buildiing condos so turn on...

This hotel is a bit run down, but it is in a good location and the rooms are spacious. In fact, our room had two washrooms in it. The walls are very thin, and we could hear our neighbors as if they were in the same room as us. But everything was quiet after about 10pm. Reception was very helpful,...

Staying in The Village (Gay Village)

Neighbourhood Profile
The Village (Gay Village)
The rainbow pillars of Beaudry Métro Station shepherd the way into to The Village, one of the largest hubs for gay and lesbian culture in North America. With an open layout and a congenial aura, the refurbished buildings along Rue Sainte-Catherine pay a special homage to menswear and to caffeine, with showrooms and cafes. By morning, the antiquing gems along Amherst Street are packed with collectors. An incredible party spot, The Village comes alive at night, when clubs, bars, and dance halls open their doors and the revelry is high, epitomised by the fanciful trimmings of the apropos Oscar Wilde building. From May to September, the area closes to automotive traffic, allowing restaurant terraces to pour onto the streets, creating a dynamic sense of community. Les Boules Roses, thousands of pink baubles, are hung to welcome in the festivals and celebrations, including Montréal en Arts, Divers-Cité, and the Pride Parade.
