I had a very good time in this hostel. The personnel were all good and kind. The breakfast is good. The bedrooms are very good, also the washroom. What I didn't like the most is that I shared a night with 2 older men, it made me feel kinda weird, I had the feeling hostels were for young people. I...

Samson Hostel was a convent and handily accessible place to stay when in Montreal. It doesn't seem centrally located but it's around the corner from a Metro station that all trains run through. The neighborhood is in the middle of a few growing hot spots, and you wouldn't know that you're only a few blocks away from a strip of...

I came for a short business + friend visit trip. The staff was very friendly, the room was clean, everything you need was there, the room has a good size, with real pieces of furniture, at a great location, a decent breakfast is included, all of that for a very affordable. What else could we ask for ?

The staff is nice, the breakfeast is included from 7 to 9am, is basic but good and you can take whatever you want. It really has a great location and you have great places to know and eat in a walking distance. The bathrooms are clean, the only thing as a solo female traveler is that i could not find...

Hi there, thanks for your great review. We're sorry about the situation with the female dormitories while you were staying here - we've been very busy in them for a while now. Booking early will always increase the chances of being able to stay in one. In the meantime, we'll try to be more flexible with converting our mixed rooms...

Located in the heart of Montreal, Samesun is perfectly positioned, and is within walking distance of the cities beautiful attractions. The staff were superb and were always helpful when questioned. Ludo, Greg, Curtis and Jules were always a great laugh at the bar in the evenings. So much so that I came back for a few nights the following week!...

This was my first time staying at a hostel, and I have to say I was very pleasantly surprised. The staff was very friendly, from the man who checked us in to the bartender to the tour guide, Greg. The bar downstairs was nice, with some fun drinks such as the "Inception Bomb". The location is great, with many restaurants,...

Hi there, thanks for your great review. Our staff (especially Greg!) will be very pleased to hear your comments. Apologies, regarding the little bottles of shampoo and conditioner. We decided not to supply these as part of our attempt to reduce the amount of plastic waste we create. We're also glad you enjoyed Montreal - we like it here too....

How can you beat $15/night? Staff was friendly and it was nice to have the bathroom in the room. However ,that meant not as many public restrooms if someone was showering and you needed to use the restroom- but it's fine:) We were in the basement, which was a little stuffy. However that helped when night came around and I...

For only €15 per night you don't get a better hostel than this! Good location, clean rooms, enough space, fast wifi, and friendly staff. Breakfast was simple, but ok. You cannot expect more for that price. Only thing that could be improved were the blankets. They were really thing. If you are looking for a cheap hostel I would recommend...

Staying in Centre-Ville (Downtown)

Neighbourhood Profile
Centre-Ville (Downtown)
Montreal's towering skyline is concentrated in the Downtown area, its nexus of commerce and commercialism. A suffusion of luxury hotels, flagship stores, high-end restaurants, and corporate headquarters characterize the neighborhood, which by nightfall transforms from a business district into a youth-culture hotspot, with hip bars, clubs, and restaurants heavily peopled by students and young professionals. The once-seat of millionaire's 'Golden Square Mile', an incongruity of stately mansions and dapper brownstones sit between glass skyscrapers, creating a visually lush urban landscape. Beneath the sidewalks lay the Underground City, the world's largest below-ground mall, a labyrinth of over 1,500 shops and eateries that echo the profusion of cafes, gallerias, cinemas, and fashion outlets above. From the scholarly array at McGill University to the carousing crowds of Rue Crescent, visit Downtown to shop by day for what you'll wear there by night.
