Detailed Reviews
This was my first time going to Quebec City and I decided to choose this hotel due to all the positive reviews, and I wasn't disappointed. Located within walking distance of many of the attractions in Vieux-Quebec, the hotel's staff were very friendly, and my room was nice and clean when I arrived, as well as quiet during the night. Also, the bed was comfy and the room's temperature was ideal (the only minor issue for me was the water in the bathroom could take a while to heat up, but it was fine once it did). I also appreciated the free coffee and tea available whenever I wanted. If you don't mind not having some of the amenities seen in larger hotels (e.g. pool, elevator), I would recommend this charming boutique hotel anytime.

Bonjour M. Nico! Thank you for taking a moment to share your experience with us at the Manoir d'Auteuil with the online travel community. It is true, we certainly do not have those amenities such as a pool or elevator found in the large chain hotels. We are located in one of the beautiful historic properties situated within the walls of the Old City and the building dates to 1835. I am delighted to know you enjoyed your stay with us as well as your room. Because we are so small, we are typically very quiet which is great for a good night's sleep. Thank you again and we hope that this first visit to Quebec City has inspired you to come back again! Merci beaucoup, Linda

Very cosy hotel, I received a warm welcome. I didn't realize that the room I booked was a bit small, as I had to eat in my room because of the covid. And the person in charge of the reception desk suggested a bigger room, with a super cute alcove, and a table, for a very small additional charge.
The bed was super comfy, and the hotel is very calm. Super close to everything.

Thank you Tiffany for taking a moment to share your insights with the online community. We are delighted to know you enjoyed your stay with us! Yes, the Economy and European rooms are very much so on the small side, but they are indeed very warm and inviting. For more space, I really recommend a room in the deluxe category, superior or Suites. Fortunately, I believe the City wide restrictions concerning dining rooms will be eased in the not too distant future. We are all looking forward to being able to spread out a bit! All the best, and again, thank you for your support. Especially with COVID, it helps us keep the staff employed and the lights on! All the best, and hope to welcome you back once again, Linda

Our stay at Le Manoir d'Auteuil was excellent! The location of the hotel is perfect for walking to everything in old Quebec City, the staff were extremely welcoming and helpful, and the room we had on the garden level was very clean, quiet, and had a lovely view of the garden. We loved the history of the house and it's preservation in each of the rooms. This is such a nice change from the big chain hotels and a much more individualized and personal accommodation. Many, many thanks to Linda and the employees at Le Manoir d'Auteuil for making our stay so relaxing. We will definitely stay at Le Manoir on our next trip to Quebec City and will be recommending it as an excellent place to stay.

Bonjour Traveller082022! I cannot tell you just how many smiles were generated from everyone on the team after reading your review. We would be honored to welcome you back. The garden level rooms are some of my favorites, with the beamed ceilings and thick rock walls. Thank you again for your support and we look forward to seeing you once again! Merci beaucoup, Linda

This hotel may not be for everyone, but for those who appreciate what a boutique hotel can offer it has everything you could ask for.
The location is inside of the walled city of Quebec and you can walk to everything as long as you do not mind the hills.
Quebec City, the section within the walls, is not a friendly city if you are disabled-and this hotel is no exception. Most of the shops and restaurants do not have any access for handicapped as well.
The Good:
The staff is wonderful the owner runs everything well. The rooms were clean and beautiful, our room was roomy with a high ceiling and windows that overlooked the street. The breakfast was delicious each day (at times the staff needed to be reminded to refill the coffee, cram and milk). The building is old but well maintained-no issues with any of the infrastructure. It’s like staying in Fran…..you get what I mean.
Everything about this hotel is made to be appreciated-this is not a chain so the employees take a personal interest in your happiness. Treat them well, they deserve it.
The Not So Good: No elevator (not a problem for us) Parking is a couple of blocks away, some of the rooms may have street noise (car tires on cobblestone, was not an issue for us even though we did stay street facing).
If you have a car and want to park, they have reserved spaces in the nearby lot. You likely will not need your car at all, as everything is within walking distance to this hotel,
Enjoy your stay, we sure did, and we will be back. Je me souviens!

Bonjour M. Brian, Thank you so much for taking the time to write a review with so many delightful details. It is true, if you are someone who really wants a chain style hotel, we are likely not the best choice. However, if you want to experience the history of Old Quebec in one of the historical buildings with in the walls, yes, like you know where.....France, then we are a great choice. I do indeed wish we could install an elevator, but on several occasions, our requests have been denied due to the historical requirements. On the plus side though, we are indeed happy to assist with your bags. Thank you again for your support and we look forward to one day welcoming you back. Merci beaucoup! Linda

A special hotel, the room was charming and comfortable. The staff was friendly and happy to assist and help. The hotel is located in a central location close to both the parliament and the lower city. Recommend upgrading the breakfast. I recommend that the receptionist explain at check-in that you need to request daily cleaning of the room in advance

Bonjour Tzur4! Thank you for taking a moment to review your stay with us. I am thrilled you enjoyed the hotel, your room and the ideal location while visiting our beautiful city. We have indeed adopted a policy of not entering a room unless invited due to the fallout of the COVID pandemic. We do have a card placed on the bed explaining just how the housekeeping service is handled and I realize that it is sometimes missed. Reception keeps a list of all clients that would like housekeeping services and my apologies that we did not properly inform you of this procedure at check-in. We will certainly work on that! Thank you again for your support and we hope to one day welcome you back. Merci beaucoup! Linda

We loved the location and the beautiful room. The staff were all very welcoming and eager to help us make the most of our visit to Quebec City. The room was easy walking distance to all of the historical exhibits we wanted, and we did not need to use our car for our entire three days. Yet the street was quiet and there were no crowds to fight to get in and out of our room, like there are at some of the larger or more famous hotels.

The hotel is so charming. The location is perfect, close to Old Quebec, Plaines D'Abraham, Grand Alle restaurants, etc. It is located right across a lovely park on a quiet street. Walking distance to everything. We booked a European room but noticed later those are located on the 3rd/4th floor and my fiancee has a knee injury, so we requested a change to a Queen Standard and had no problem getting one on the 1st floor (which in Quebec/French is the 2nd floor). The room was lovely and roomy. The bed... amazing! So comfy! Parking is located at the back (extra $$). Overall it was a wonderful getaway birthday weekend. I would definitely stay here again.

Thank you so much "caybar" for taking the time to write a review and also for choosing to stay with us. It was a genuine pleasure welcoming you and your fiancée with us. Given the reduction in volume due to Covid, it really was easy to accommodate your request. In a normal high season, that is not always possible and I am delighted we were able to find you an option on a lower floor. Thank you for your support and for giving a little getaway a go during this time of uncertainty. We would be honoured to welcome you back! All the best and encore....merci, Linda

The staff and accommodations made this the perfect stay within the walls of Vieux Quebec. Victor and Chantal were very helpful and knowledgeable. Our family had two rooms, one on the 2nd floor In the main part of the hotel and one on the ground floor that was accessed by an exterior stairwell that was newly remodeled and roomy. Both were nicely appointed. And the coffee, tea and hot chocolate available throughout the day was something we looked forward to and appreciated during our wintery stay. We would certainly stay here again.

Bonjour and thank you so much for taking the time to review your stay with us. Given that the building dates to 1835 and originally served as a single family home, each room is unique in style and placement. I am very happy to hear you enjoyed both of your rooms and the hotel! Victor has been with us for 3 years now, and it is such a pleasure to work with him and Chantal as well. Thank you for your support and we hope to welcome you back one day in the future. This was our first trip to Quebec for Winter Carnival. We arrived late morning after driving through a blizzard and were welcomed by Nancy at the front desk, who arranged for our room to be available 4 hours early! The room was super cozy, the bed very comfortable and the location was fabulous - just minutes from great restaurants and Winter Carnival festivities. Enjoyed lovely coffee and croissants in the cafe. Everyone was super friendly and helpful. Can't wait to go back!

Great question! Yes, each room does indeed have a mini fridge. If for some reason it does not seem to be working, let us know and we will happily show you how to turn it on as it is not obvious. Feel free to reach out should you have any other questions. Merci beaucoup! Linda
Bonjour! Unfortunately, no, we do not have an elevator, however we are available to assist with bags. As for windows, yes, they do indeed open....which is wonderful. Please feel to reach out should you have any additional questions. Merci, Linda
Only two rooms have private balconies and they are on the main floor with a balcony on the tiny interior courtyard. Everyone, however, can access the rooftop terrasse to escape and enjoy the exterior. We cannot guarantee which specific room you will get in the room category reserved, but we do our best to navigate and note all of the special requests when assigning rooms. None of the park view rooms have balconies, and to have a guaranteed view, you must reserve either a Junior Suite or a View King room (only available through our website or via telephone.). Hope that helps! Merci, Linda
I do not know where the historic junior suite is. We were on the second floor (about 12 stairs x 2 flights). I do not think there will be any help with the luggage but they are so helpful that I am sure if you contact them by phone or internet, they will help you. We really enjoyed our stay there. So quiet, peaceful and clean hotel. (Hint for outside: Long steep hill to go on St Jean street but head towards St Louis street which is less steep and closer.)
