My Husband I wanted a quiet time away from all the hustle and bustle of our stressful city lives to bring in our 2nd wedding anniversary. And we are so glad we chose Ayur Soma. The good folks at Ayur Soma ( adjoining Somatheeram) took great care of us throughout and we walked away feeling well fed and rested. Their hospitality is absolutely top notch. The staff were always at our service with a smile. We had taken up a 7 day rejuvenation package that came with a specialised treatment and a personalised daily massage routine There was yoga and meditation classes everyday overlooking the pristine ocean waters. Their ayurvedic massages were brilliant - customized and worth every penny. I would be doing a dis-service to this review if I did not make a mention of their very elaborate and very thoughtful buffet. We enjoyed devouring the traditional and fresh Kerala inspired meals - Drumstick curry with raw mango chunks was our favourite find. We spent a few evenings at the beach which is only a hop, skip away from the property. If you are looking for a few days to refill your battery, Ayursoma can make for a perfect staycation. Be ready to be pampered.

We were looking for a traditional Kerala house to stay and Somatheeram was exactly what we got! We got a special cottage with luxurious amenities. The complimentary breakfast was vegetarian, healthy, and had options for ayurvedic elements which felt like a total detox for the body. The resort offers view to Chowara beach from a cliff which is breathtaking. The stay is perfect for people looking for ayurvedic massages and treatments. However, we travelled as a family for a weekend getaway and felt pampered by the traditional luxuries.
Demertis: They mentioned bathtub aminity while booking which was missing in the special cottage. The restaurant had very less option for evening tea time. The staffs are not prompt in cleaning the tables. We came for morning breakfast by 9:15 AM and half of the tables were left with eaten plates and cutlery with no one removing them and making space for the new guests.

Having researched for a relaxing Ayurveda resort on the beach we chose this but quickly realised we shouldn’t have. Ignored on arrival and told our room wasn’t ready so just left to stare into space After our first treatment hot water ran out after 5 minutes in the shower. We were told as we had only booked a basic chalet we could not expect hot water. People ate in the restaurant in gowns with masks on their faces and the food choice was minimal. We have emailed and asked Manager to contact us but no one has. We left after 24 hours

Please note that your booking was in the lowest category and you booked your room from 2 pm check-in time and arrived early morning. We were running full and no rooms were vacant to accommodate you earlier. We requested you to book for early check-in but you ignored. Hot water is available 24 hrs, and we briefed you on check-in how to operate. We have vast varieties of vegetarian collection, we don't serve non-vegetarian. We are very sorry for the inconvenience caused because your purpose of the stay was not for authentic Ayurveda Treatments. The Ayurvedic meals are excellent, the attentive and warm service the fantastic Ayurvedic treatments, the gardeners are always present to make us appreciate with flowers. Somatheeram is an Ayurvedic retreat for your Body, Mind & Soul in God's own country- Kerela. Everything about this place was PERFECT! I came here for a 14 day Body purification/ rejuvenation programme and have thoroughly enjoyed the treatments and my stay. Each & every staff here try their best to make your stay memorable. Best thing about this chain is also that they have 2 neighbouring properties, AyurSoma and Manaltheeram. As a guest you are free to visit any of them, so you get to enjoy 3 hotels while paying for 1. While Somatheeram gives you rustic vibes of being surrounded by nature, Ayursoma is good for guests who enjoy modern style accommodation. I also fell in love with Manaltheeram as it is set on a cliff overlooking the sea and I often visited here to relax post my treatments. In short I will highly recommend this place to anyone who wants a healing touch of Ayurveda in the best possible location. I will definitely be returning with my family soon.

Somateeram is everything and more I could hope for. It’s a heavenly peaceful place to go through transformation and cleanse. I told my husband this is the best gift he could have given me (staying with the kids while I take care of myself). I do a month of pancha karma, that means detox in the Ayurveda way and I couldn’t imagine how easy and friendly it can be in a faculty like this. The treatments are pure bliss, the therapists are professional and authentic. The meals are incredible vegetarian and mostly vegan food (I am not vegetarian and very impressed!) the Ayurveda medication are meched for your body taste and needs, the rooms are very comfortable and beautiful- even the bed and pillows are comfortable! the ocean is very close, the facility itself is beautiful and well kept, the other guests are so friendly and easy to communicate (came alone and leaving with soul sisters), the yoga teachers are wonderful ( I love sneyhe- her voice still plays in my head hours after class) and you really don’t need anything else when your here. There is very similar name resorts near by (I almost booked there by mistake) make sure to book somateeram village.

We stayed there for 2 days. They have good cottages for stay but their overall customer experience is really bad. They don't serve breakfast on time. Even with a staff of 4 people in a restaurant customers have to highlight what is over and they have to ask for everything to the restaurant staff. Also, staff can't speak proper English and its quite hard to communicate with them if you are not from Kerala.
The food quality is very bad and they don't care about customer experience. The general manager is very rude and doesn't care about customer experience. They stay is quite expensive and doesn't worth your money.
Actually, it's a ayurvedic center and mostly foreigners stays here for months for their ayurvedic treatment. As a side businesses they have started hosting people for 1 or 2 days stay. Hence, their food quality is very poor and service also as they don't make lot of money from the short stays.
I don't recommend this hotel to anyone if you are planning to stay around Poovar for 1 or 2 days. You might as well stay in some hotel near the komavalam beach.

This is the worst hotel I have ever been for everything, the structure in itself, the staff, and the location. I would not suggest to anyone to come to this place unless you come for the Ayurvedic treatments and then lock yourself in your room and try to imagine being anywhere but there! People ate in the restaurant in gowns with masks on their faces and the food choice was minimal. Also out of 7 days of treatment for almost 4 days they were put us in Palmshore Resort due to Over booking which is poor quality resort and treatment. They spoiled our holidays knowingly...

Yes Rooms have AC, but in Ayurveda it's better not to use too much, it's all about keeping warm!

People do get treated there but you usually have to stay for 4 weeks for any treatment to be effective. They do have good doctors but you have to ask for one, otherwise they will just give you whoever is free. June/July will be very hot in Kerala.
