Aloita Resort is one of the most beautiful resorts in the Mentawais, located on the small tropical island of Simakakang, 15 minutes away from the main port of the archipelago. This secluded island is surrounded by white sandy beaches, magnificent coral reef, turquoise waters and lush tropical vegetation. The resort accommodates both surfers and non-surfers and is therefore perfect for families and also surf beginners. For the optimum experience, we run a policy of maximum of 12 surfers at any time. Aloita is a beautiful destination for couples on honeymoon or for romantic getaways.

Aloita is an oasis of magical beauty, a pure, unspoilt place. Almost surreal. One can hardly believe the infinity of colours and shades that glow in the sunlit water. Clean, white beaches, lush, happy nature. And the staff is just as wonderful, kind and welcoming. You feel welcomed as if you were family. Starting with the 'captain', Fabrizio. A wise, kind and extremely empathetic man. And dulcis in fondo: delicious food, homemade, vegetarian, vegan, while not neglecting fish (very fresh) and meat. And the desserts are the end of the world. The fact that Aloita is not easy to reach means that those who choose it are special tourists, sporty, nature-loving and peaceful. If you go to Indonesia you can’t miss Aloita resort!

This place is magical A perfect combination of laid back surf camp with all the comforts of a high end resort. Intimate, uncrowded and spotlessly clean. Superb meals - with a strong vegan/ veggie menu Great surf for all levels and on your doorstep snorkelling in pristine coral reef. The kids loved it and we are already planning our next trip back …

Aloita is a group of people that have put a lot of love into what they do. Its a natural & relaxed place on a small island with great surf within walking distance and world class wave options 10 mins away by boat. It is a friendly and family oriented environment which we appreciated a lot as we were 14 weeks pregnant on arrival. Being our first trip to Indonesia we had many questions prior to booking that Javier - the surf guide / photographer from Perú and all round legend - kindly helped us with. The information provided and reassurance was key for us to dive in and go for it . From arrival to departure we felt like we were on an epic surf trip with a group of friends. Each time we went out on the surfboat the crew selected the best waves for the days' conditions. They accommodated our surf level requirements and also filled us in on the different take off zones which was especially helpful for someone 14weeks pregnant. 10 days was perfect for us, as there were a few days when the surf conditions weren't great. Overall, we had a good mixture of surf, beach relaxing, Supping, Snorkeling and jungle trekking. Yoga and massages were provided on the beachfront spa /shala and highly recommended. It was a real luxury to come back from a surf and always have super tasty & nutriliscious meals waiting for us. The food Menu developed by Ash @formysenses - was definitely a highlight. Also enjoyed many funny conversations with other guests and crew at the shared diner table. We will definitely be back with a grommit in the future. Until then we have Javiers' photos to remind us of our life in paradise 🌴🏝🏝🏝⛵️🌴

I spent at Aloita 10 magic unforgettable days... will be back again soon. Definitely. Even-though I am not a surfing person it was very exciting to take a surf lesson with a very funny and uplifting surf teacher Julian. I woke up early every morning, did not want to miss magic swimming in sunrise, than had a delicious breakfast ( you can choose between tropic fruit salad and home made granola and very European breakfast with delicious bread, home made jams and eggs... After coffee with beautiful view, i spend some time at the beach, swimming and sunbathing and soon it came lunch time... again, you should definitely try this crazy good food. After lunch and after a lazy rest Putu, balinese masseuse is waiting with her magician fingers... Omg .... I was in alpha state every single day... Or you may want to explore some underwater world with so many different spices. Beautiful and so so interesting. If you have a little wildness in you, you definitely shouldn't miss jungle tracking with one and only Wilson.. he is so excited and happy to show you everything and leads you ( with a lot of knowledge, I must say.. he has grown up in the jungle) through mysterious world of the Jungle... unforgettable. I went 2 times:) At sunset... it is a must : yoga with a magic view and the sound of waves. Evening are special at Aloita as well... guests are sitting together around big table as a big family and it feels really good to talk to every one of them. Nice local people make it even better with their kindness and big smiles.. Yes, In Aloita you get a sneak pick, how life in Paradise may look like!

This is a gorgeous island which you essentially have entirely to yourself. It is peaceful and idyllic. For surfers it offers endless, gorgeous breaks. For non-surfers it is a serene place to relax, get your yoga on, SUP, kayak, snorkel and swim for hours in the superb, aquamarine sea. The food is very nice. Fresh, hearty, buffet style meals with the option to have a private dinner on the jetty which is a delight. The bungalows are right on the beachfront and each offer a covered deck to relax on, lovely comfy beds with nice linen and air conditioning as well as a ceiling fan. The staff are very friendly and helpful. The bathrooms need work and our wardrobe was in a poor state. Painting, fixing the bathroom tiles and shower would lift the standard. This is a gorgeous place to get some sun and surf. Unfortunately some of the maintenance let’s the place down otherwise i would have given it a 4 star. The journey to get there can be challenging. Multiple flights before an overnight stay in Padang (we stayed at the Mercure - 3 out of 5). The ferry was very rough on our journey over. Take travel sickness pills is my tip, lots of people were sick. I would also suggest that you upgrade to the VIP section. It’s higher in the boat and there are less people in there. We did this on the return journey and it was worth it. Overall I would recommend Aloita but I would have loved a well maintained bathroom for our stay.

We're a family of 4, with 2 teenage children. We went to Aloita for 12 nights in August. Our time there was pure bliss, and gave us memories to last a lifetime. It is one of the most intensely relaxing places we have ever been. The photos here do it complete justice; who could not fall for a tropical paradise, all green palm trees, clear warm blue seas, and white sandy beaches? And in between relaxing intensely we managed to do so much – yoga every day (one of us!), loads of snorkelling (never get tired of tropical fish in all their myriad shapes and colours), a jungle trek on a nearby island, kayaking, a SUP trip to nearby mangroves, bodyboarding, and of course surfing every day. And we loved every minute of all of these, which were all brilliant. (As beginner surfers we stuck mostly to the break nearby the resort, which was perfect for learning on, and fairly challenging on some days.) Apart from its stunning location and the fab surfing, what made Aloita special for us was the chilled communal vibe, among both guests and staff. There are few guests at any one time and all the (buffet) meals are eaten at a large communal table. That is great for mingling and getting to know other people from all over the world, as well as the team working there. You feel like you are part of a big family when you are there. A very special mention must go to Fabrizio, who runs Aloita and is a total star. One of the nicest, patient, engaged, friendly guys you will ever meet, and who is clearly a key driver of the lovely atmosphere there. And also to Joao, whose team produces the most delicious meals three times a day. I suspect that most guests, like us, leave Aloita already thinking about their next trip back.

Aloita is a great place to stay. I spent there more than 10 days and I enjoyed every single moment. The location is perfect, amazing white sand beach where you can chill out and surfing spot nearby. Yoga class in the morning facing the ocean and watching sunset is simply amazing. Bungalows are pretty and cozy. Food is fresh, healthy, with vegan option. Staff was nice, welcoming and helpful. Can't recommend this resort highly enough

I have just come back from this amazing place with my four children. We had an amazing trip - the place, the sea, the staff and the food. Make sure you do the early morning yoga, paddle board trip to the mangroves and the jungle walk. They looked after us so well. It is relaxed but beautifully done.. I am a non-surfer and enjoyed the trip just as much as the rest of my family who had fantastic surfing. I would definitely go back to Aloita.

My husband and I spent 12 days at Aloita, it was one of the best 12 days together we've had. The location is A++, so stunningly beautiful. The owner and the staff were welcoming, warm and genuine. The food, amazing - options to suit all. There's a lot to keep one busy if you don't surf. The resort is run like a well oiled machine...it was impressive. A bonus to our trip were the other guests, who were the icing on the cake. It was truly wonderful and we will be back... I cannot wait!

Aloita is a first class resort especially considering the average of the Mentawai. Top class waves and a friendly surf instructors /photographer and guide will make your trip unforgettable. The beach is a paradise, great food, what else? Just go for it. I will definitely come back. The place is also perfect for yoga, snorkeling and escursion. See you soon Stefano
