We booked a Kampung chalet through Booking.com and received a confirmation email from them of the booking. However, on arrival, we found that Booking.com had messed up and failed to inform the owners of the booking. Luckily for us, the friendly owner Tuan Hashim and his wife, was able to accomodate us at short notice as they had a Kampung Chalet unit available. The place is close to nature with spacious grounds full of flowering plants and some fruit trees, a pond, a catch and release fishing pond where the dining hall is, glamping facilities and so on. They have a boathouse unit, a bungalow which can accomodate a whole family, modern chalets, Kampung chalets,as well as glamping tents. Some networks will have minimal coverage so you will be pleased to know that they have WiFi available. Our room had Astro satellite TV and a DVD player for entertainment, although ours had some problem with reception at the time of our stay. With a queen sized bed with mosquito netting, a small fridge, air conditioner and ceiling fan, a small space to hang our clothes, and a bathroom with hot water shower, basin, and a WC. Toilet paper, body wash and shampoo were provided. Buffet breakast is included. Nearby streams for playng and soaking in runs by the property. Makes for a fun time for the kids, and a nice, quiet, relaxing environment for the adults.…
We made the right choice when choosing Sailor's Rest Resort for our family Retreat. The place is so peaceful, clean with beautiful surroundings of flora and fauna. The river is just next to our Campsite. My children really enjoyed their Glamping experience because the campsite is clean, comfortable and no insects repellant is needed. The owner and caretakers are also friendly and attentive to our needs. Will be back here
This was my first time at Sailor's Rest....and since I have heard so much about it, decided to have a go at this place. We checked in on CNY ie 25th January, and stayed here for 2 nights. Let's just get straight to the point, shall we? Positive Points: 1. An aura of calmness greeted us as we entered the place. Janda Baik wasn't very far from KL, hence the drive was a smooth one. 2. We were greeted upon check in by the owner himself, En. Hashim. He was most welcoming and gracious. 3. The bungalow where we stayed in was actually the owner's house....granted, it wasn't spanking new. However, it was very clean and comfortable! Truly, a HOME AWAY FROM HOME! 4. We paid for the BBQ dinner on our 1st night....it was good. 5. Breakfast for 2 days comprised of mainly 'kampung' fare. However, I certainly have no complaints there. Tasty....especially the nasi lemak. 6. The place was serene....flora and fauna in abundance. We were considered lucky, as there were no monkeys on rampage during our stay there. It wasn't the fruit season I suppose. 7. The glamping area was well maintained, and the facilities ie toilets were very clean. 8. The river was easily accessible by steps....simply beautiful amidst the lush green of the surrounding area. Your stress just melted away! 9. Staff was courteous and polite. 10. The personal touch by the owner En. Hashim, and his lovely wife....was such a delight. 11. Plenty of places to eat around the resort in Janda Baik, which was very convenient for us. Now, the Negative Points: 1. The surrounding area was pretty dark at night, thus putting us off from driving out...unless one was familiar with the area. 2. The road leading to Sailor's Rest was pretty bumpy....perhaps the owner could consider premixing it for easier access? 3. Granted...the place wasn't spanking new. However, some facilities/buildings do need a fair amount of renovation and perhaps an upgrade....while still maintaining the 'kampung' feel. 4. There were plenty of trees, flowers and plants in the resort. However, a more proper and well designed landscaping would do wonders to the place. There you have it....so, in summary?? Of course, I will come back to Sailor's Rest@Janda Baik! It is a beautiful place with it's very own unique charm and attraction. A really nice place to just chill...and to forget the chaos of city life. Thank you En. Hashim for the hospitality...you have a good thing going here.…
1. Actually this is our 2nd visit with family. Experiance Glamping with private river and rainforest environment. Secluded and far away from city hectic. 2. Good for family with small children and friends especially for short vacation. 3. Not crowded as its a private place. 4. Excellent services and hospitality by the operator. 5. Nice food especially the bbq and breakfast. My children like it. The package we request come with dinner and breakfast. 6. Ampell and free parking space. 7. Will repeat again
We got our camp by the river as requested. Love the nature environment. The place is clean, well organised, surrounded with greenery. Tent is quite big, bedsheets is super clean and nice pillow. Toilet is clean but the water pressure is low. Surau is available and our family did jemaah most of the prayers. Good times for family bonding! Bbq spread hmm ok, we could say decent but not as we expected. Breakfast was good. Love their nasi lemak. Not much activities inside the compound. The jungle trekking is closed. Please bring board games otherwise you have nothing todo in the night.
