Staying at Camping les Peupliers across the road we have seen le Clos d'Is over the years but never visited. This year we did and were pleasantly surprised. We had the €19 3 course menu with 3 choices within each course. House wine was reasonably priced and very palatable. With an aperitif, 3 tasty courses and a litre of wine...

If you are thinking of breaking the journey, don"t your back will thank you in the morning. The only way we had any sleep was by using the bath towels (still clean and dry - no hot water!) and several articles of clothing to remove the Grand Canyon in the bed. There is also no need to set the alarm,...

The hotel is basic but rooms very clean. TV limited to french only. Looks a bit crappy in corridors but room was clean and bed comfortable. Restaurant downstairs to side is nice - food was good. GREAT location. Walk down to river, town is hidden. Cons: No elevator and lots of stairs - lots. 3 churches nearby, bells all started...

Having left the Millau bridge we were heading for the Gorges du Tarn. Slowly passing through Riviere-sur-Tarn I spotted this hotel, it’s a Logis hotel so that gives some confidence that it will be ok, and it was. Rooms were a little small but the view from the window to the mountains more than made up for it. We dined...
