What a sweet surprise to discover this charming little paradise. The restaurant is great, the cabins are simple(no AC) but clean and comfortable, the surroundings romantic nd well kept. And the breakfast (included in the price): unbelievable. The owner, a charming lady, takes care of her guests and is a professional host. We would love to come back.

A beautiful B&B with the best local style estaurant around. Mayan styled thatch roof rooms with ceiling fans outlets that work anytime and a bright roomy bathroom shower area. This place can really be a great starting point for many day trips in the Yucatan. A refreshing late day swim in the pool with a freshly made drink in hand...

The Pickled Onion is lovely. The rooms are individual palapas set apart and surrounded by the local jungle. You can hear the birds and animals all night long - a really relaxing sound. The food in the restaurant is as good as you will find anywhere. This is really not something I expected in such a little town. And the...

We loved the Pickled Onion and the owner Valerie. She was an amazing hostess, every night walking around the dining room chatting with guests. Several people we met there had been there before and returned to the area just because they loved the beauty and relaxing atmosphere of The Pickled Onion. We will definitely stay there if we ever return...

The Pickled Onion is a rare treat. It is a number of Mayan style cabins set in a beautiful tropical garden. The picturesque pool is a great place to meet fellow guests. The Pickled Onion employs two trained chefs in its restaurant; one does the complimentary breakfast, the other does dinner. Lunches are also available. I stayed for 2 nights...

Santa Elena, and more particularly the Pickled Onion, is the perfect stop to visit the spectacular ruins, e.g., Uxmal, in the area. I stayed in one of the small cabanas on the property.
