I stayed at this hotel several times during my two month stay in Madagascar and both times were fantastic. The hotel sent drivers to pick us up and return us to Toamasina each time. While the transport was reliable, it is the typical run down auto that is so prevalent in Madagascar. The drivers were always pleasant and on-time. The...

We spent one night at la Pirogue. The hotel looks really nice and it is in front of the ocean. We stayed in a bungalow, which was nice, but looked a bit outdated (though the new brick rooms and bungalows seem much nicer - so I would recommend to pick one of those two options). Food was alright.

La Pirogue hotel is surrounded with tropical gardens and also the beach and the Indian Ocean. The hotels offers rooms in lodges and bungalows. I stayed in a room with balcony over looking the beach and ocean. There are umbrellas and lounge chairs available for relaxing on the beach. There is plenty of beach for a long walk and beach...

This was a very pleasant surprise at the end of a very bumpy road, but our beach-side room with an upper balcony was lovely. The grounds were pretty and the restaurant very good. Staff were also very good. Its a shame we didn't get to stay a bit longer, but we had to leave early to go to a port...

Great customer service - management (owner) went out of their way to address a small issue we encountered. Staff was also very friendly. The owner checked in on us on a regular basis to ensure all is well. Our baby was well looked after (kitchen staff preparing extra soup etc..)

I've been in La Pirogue only for one night but it was like heaven to me. After the long and winding road trip we found this oasis where nice bungalows were waiting for us. Dinner was excellent and drinks as well. We were told the electricity will stop after 10pm, together with running water, of course... We didn't care and...

We enjoyed our bungalow here Most of the hotels we stayed at had bungalows, this seems the norm in Madagascar. The grounds were lovely and the hotel clean. Very nice lounging areas and a restaurant which was reasonably good.

We had a fabulous bungalow close to the beach with a view over the ocean. Very comfortable and cleaned every morning. Very good service at the restaurant and bar. Food was incredible. We could have anything delivered to our bungalow which was nice if we didn't want to go to the restaurant. The reception was very nice to us and...

Perfect place for people looking for a clean, safe, relaxing and authentic Madagascar visit! This is a charming hotel on the beach (with a lagoon) just a walk away from a nice village. We stayed in a bungalow. Clean, bedding was great. We visited the Suites, which are amazingly decorated with hand carved woods, fossils. The landscaping is wonderful and...

For a long weekend on an unspoilt beach miles from civilisation but with all the amenities and luxuries you could ask for La Pirogue is ideal! Situated in a small cove in Mahambo and opening on to the beach the hotel offers an excellent range of activities and facilities. The surfing is great for relative beginners through to more experienced....
