The Buck has been greatly improved over the years and is now a great pub right in the centre of Thornton Dale. Cosy and welcoming bars with good selection of beers and wines plus simple and tasty pub food.

Myself and a few friends were staying in a cottage in Thornton le Dale for the weekend. When entering The Buck we were looked at like we were not welcome. After asking for a round of drinks the barmaid who may well be the owner spoke to us horrendously. I have never been so shocked. Apart from that, the food... More

Sunday lunch was good. Service was quick and polite. Enjoyed our visit and would visit again. The restaurant was quiet and clean and the decoration was pleasant. A very relaxed and welcoming place to enjoy your meal.

Nothing for you here. Would've excused the overcooked food if the young bar lady with a chip on her shoulder wasn't so attached to her baubles. Don't go here if you are in a group and want to have a good time, you're money is welcome elsewhere (over the road) The pub dog was lovely.

Good food in the bar of this dog friendly hotel. I had steak and ale pie. The meat was really tender. My husband ate a good lasagne with salad garnish (no raw onion!) and garlic bread. Reasonable prices. Friendly staff. We stayed in a cottage in the village.

Having read the negative reviews after going rather than before, I'm glad we went on recommendation. If you have a party of 5 (you plus your wife and 3 kids ) and paid a massive bill for someone else as well, whether you needed to check it or not, it's ridiculous that you didn't think it was your bill just...
