Railay Great View Resort and spa
Superior bungalow number 23
Arrived here from Krabi, quite a walk along the east side of Railay as it’s the last hotel on the path. They do offer a transfer from the pier but we didn’t know that. It's about a 15-20 minute walk into town.
The Staff were friendly and helpful.
We had a family room. The beds were nice and the linen was very good quality. Our bungalow had a lovely view and outside was a seating area, however I found it all quite hard, lots of benches, there were no cushions for the bench or chairs outside also the bungalow was screaming out for a hammock which would have been lovely with the view.
You get free earplugs with the room, and you will need them as the long tail boats only stop for a few hours (or did I finally fall asleep!) at night and make a constant loud noise.
The bungalow and bathroom were of great quality but I’m not sure it justified the £170 a night price tag.
We had a note through our door explaining they were treating the bungalows for ants and other insects, shortly after that all the cockroaches and other insects had moved into the rooms, well we certainly had an increased population in our bungalow. So you might want to think about when you do this in future.
Breakfast was lovely, possibly the best omelette I’ve ever had, lots of selection, great coffee all in a lovely setting.
The pool was also lovely, and the free drinks were very nice, such a shame the hotel allows people to leave towels on the best sun beds, reserving them, On one day I was at the pool for 6 hours and 3 of the best loungers had towels on them and were never used with is really out of order, I did complain and didn’t see anymore reserved for the remainder of our trip.
This is a really nice rustic hotel, I don’t think it justifies the price tag and is overrun with screaming children and noisy boats which kind of destroyed the tranquility the hotel is trying to create.
I don’t think I’ll be rushing back at the current room rates.

This is a beautiful resort on the farthest edge of East Railay, nestled in the jungle and hillside. Due to it's location the property has some quirks (uneven or level walkways, lots and lots of stairs), but also due to the location you truly feel like you are in a little jungle oasis with stunning surroundings and monkeys swinging through the trees and spending time by the pool.
We stayed in a Grand Deluxe Partial Sea View room and it was lovely. The room was spacious, had really lovely Thai style and decor, a fabulous bathroom and a really large balcony with a great view. Again, the room had some quirks, the bathroom ceiling leaked during heavy rain storms, and there were some holes in the mosquito net, but we didn't find any of these things to be a major problem, and found the room to be really comfortable.
The infinity pool at the property is stunning, again with great views of East Railay (they really aren't kidding with the name of the resort). The best part of the pool was being able to watch the local monkeys swing by and stop to just hang out in all of the trees that surround the pool area.
The Staff at Great View Resort were super friendly and always extremely helpful. Whenever we needed anything or had any issues in the room, the staff would immediately respond and resolve the issue. The resort has a long tail boat that does regular trips between the pier at Ao Nang and the resort to pick up and drop off guests which was helpful for check in/out.
The property is the very last accommodation in East Railay, so it is a little bit of a walk along a well lit pathway to get to the restaurants and shops of Railay. That being said, to get all the way to the main beach in Railay West only took probably 15-20 minutes, and there were tons of food and drink options along the walk. We would highly recommend The Heart Restaurant in East Railay for fresh BBQ seafood and Thai food.
Overall we thoroughly enjoyed our stay at Great View Resort and would highly recommend it to anyone looking to avoid some of the Railay crowds and have a more natural and beautiful resort stay.

It's located on a hill so if you get a room on top it's quite a challenge to get there as the paths are quite steep. Definitely not for people with mobility issues. Our cottage was located at the top and I didn't mind walking there, we had a nice view on the jungle and sea. Also saw monkeys passing by a few times. It's 10-15 minutes away from the main street. You can take the resort shuttle to Railay East pier but there were not many shuttle times and we found it easier to walk these 10 minutes rather than align our activities with shuttle times. Getting there can be a small challenge too. We took a long tail boat from Ao Nam Mao pier and were dropped off at Railay East pier. You can take resort shuttle from there but we had an hour until it so we decided to walk to the resort with our luggage. At first it's ok but once you get closer to the hotel the path goes more uphill so it can be a challenge to pull you luggage with you in that heat. When leaving we took airport shuttle from the hotel. It's bit more expensive than going by yourself but we found it easier. Cottages were nice but would need some refreshing. Longtail boats go by during day and night, so it could bother some people. They give you complimentary earplugs if you're sleep is affected by them. Altough we weren't bothered at all. After few hours in the resort I didn't even notice the noise anymore. Pool area was nice. There was only one beach umbrella so if you didn't want to be in the sun anymore you had to change the sunbeds. Breakfast had enough variety and they make omlettes, eggs etc freshly on order. Best omlette I have ever had, ate it every morning. Staff and service was ok. All in all it's a nice hotel, would visit again if in Railay.

We absolutely LOVED it here! The first thing you see as you come up the path is the pool. WOW! We loved spending our mornings and mid afternoons exploring the surrounding beaches which are absolutely amazing but get very busy after 1 or 2, then we would come back to the hotel and relax in the pool with a drink and chat with fellow travelers - they have lots of shade options by the pool which was so welcome after the heat of the day! The room was beautiful with a "great" view! If you hear a crash on your roof, don't worry! It's just the monkeys! Breakfast was always delicious with lots of different choices including an omlette bar or eggs any way you want them. Staff were always very friendly and kind. Free snorkels to borrow from the front desk. (very thoughtful!) Yes it is a hike from the main pier to the hotel but it is a very fun hike! very well lit at night and there is the GREATEST bar on the way out or back (the Tew Lay Bar). The walk here would be a challenge for the elderly, or those with mobility issues - they do have a shuttle ferry from the main pier to the hotel for free for specific times and a fee on demand I believe but we never used it. The noise of the longboats only add to the charm and they are a part of life in the south. This place is beautiful, quaint and charming. The ferry brought us to Railay East which has a rubber pier for easy disembarking & it is about a 20min hike to the hotel (there are no motorized vehicles here which is a dream!). When we left the hotel arranged a private longtail boat to take us to Au Nam Mao pier for 600 bhat to catch our flight back to Bangkok which was worth it rather than dragging our suitcases to the rubber pier in the heat. We would def stay here if we are ever lucky enough to come back!

We loved our 2 night stay at this resort!! Like most places in Thailand at the moment (due to the pandemic) the resort was quieter than what I imagine it would normally be but this only added to its charm!
The room was beautiful, we loved our balcony that overlooked the sea and was a great spying on monkey spot! We also loved the bathtub which boasted a similar view. The room was cleaned daily and all necessary amenities were provided (beach bag, hair dryer, umbrella << that was definitely needed in August).
You can pay extra for a long boat to drop you off and pick you up directly at the resort. Although the resort also offers free pier transfers at set times. However, the walk is really lovely and you get to see monkeys and monitor lizards along the way if you’re lucky. We’re in our 20s and the walk was steady and took roughly 10/15 mins but we’d often stop at the bar along the way too!

We stayed here for 2 nights in a sea view room. The huts are amazing!!! The bathroom was huge with a soaker tub looking out into the rainforest and a large free standing shower too.
The staff were helpful and provided quick room service. Try the strawberry milkshakes they are lovely!
The pool area is lovely with an infinity style pool.
The hills are quite steep, but the walk to the hotel from the main pier is only 10 minutes. It just feels longer with the heat. If you want a standard hotel with pool this isn’t for you. This is a real experience in the tree tops, we loved it!

We loved this hotel. The room itself was beautiful and really well designed, with fantastic views. The Jungle setting with view over the ocean was brilliant.
One evening we had a group of monkeys swinging form tree to tree outside our balcony!
The swimming pool is very nice however only some of the sunbeds get sun for the majority of the day. The breakfast was also very nice, with lots of choice.
I've seen other reviews mention the noise from the long boats. Yes you can hear them but we soon got used to them and didn't find the noise disruptive. I'm a fairly light sleeper but I didn't have any issues.
I've also seen people mentioning the walk to the hotel and up to the rooms from reception. The walk from the hotel into the main town only takes around 10 minutes and is a nice walk. It is a steep climb up steps to get to some of the rooms, ours was the furthest up and it was tiring walking up to it, however we felt it was worth it for the fantastic views.
On our day of leaving, the hotel arranged a transfer to Krabi airport which was brilliant. We were taken by our own private long tail boat from the pier at the hotel, to a waiting tuck tuk at the other pier, which took us staight to a waiting taxi. At all points the staff carried and transferred our luggage. It was a great service, with a cheaper price than local travel shops were offering!
We would definitely recommend staying at this hotel.

The hotel is located at the northern-most end of Railay east, which makes it secluded on the one hand, but somewhat distant from the major sites and restaurants on the other hand. However they offer a free shuttle boat to and from the eastern pier several times a day.
The hotel has a nice pool, good restaurant, leafy serene grounds, bar and private beach. Staff were very nice.
The bungalows are equipped with beach equipment, which was very nice, and balconies overlooking the sea.
The only minus for me, given the high price of the hotel in high season, was the lack of hot water in the shower and sink (only in the tub). Otherwise I would have given it 5 stars.

Perhaps the only Railay resort which offers an almost 270 degree view over Krabi bay, the Railay Great View combines the jungle, mountain and beach resort experiences in one package. Careful of the steep climbs required to reach some cottages, but the views are outstanding, especially from the restaurant and swimming pool. Restaurant had limited options, but the staff are helpful and kind to rustle up some good vegetarian options. It’s quite an experience

We’ve been to many places in southern Thailand, and this has been my favourite. I was initially worried when we passed it going from Ao Nam Mao pier- even though we asked the long tail boat to stop here, they didn’t. However, caught the free long tail boat to the resort from the pier. It was much further away than the main area. In saying that, it turned out to be a bonus. East Railay due to the tides, can get smelly in areas and we didn’t have that. It was only an easy 10 minute walk to east railay, and another 5-10 minutes from there to the other beaches. I’d recommend going early before the hordes of day trippers arrive. We had a beautiful bungalow with a lovely, shaded deck. We had a partial sea view, which was great as we didn’t have the hot walk up to the higher bungalows. We had Speckled Langurs jumping from the trees outside our balcony. They are the cutest! The fabulous Tew Lay Bar was a few minutes walk away. The long tail boats do go non stop out the front, while loud, it didn’t bother us. The pool and view is awesome. We only had breakfast here, which was standard but perfectly adequate. I regretted we only had 2 nights. Staff were lovely. When leaving, if not booking their private boat to ao nam pier, I’d recommend taking the free shuttle to East pier, then walking to west Railay to get a boat to ao nang. They wait for a full boat, and it’s quicker from there.

Most views are quite obstructed by vegetation and it is a difficult walk up to the rooms a couple of times a day...
There is a ferry that can take you to Krabi Town, we went via Phi Phi island. Once in Krabi Town, you take a 20-minute water taxi to Railay beach as it is not accessible by car.
I hope this helps,
Charlie
You should go to Ao Nang. Then you can take a longtail boat from there. See more on the hotels website under transportations
