We stayed at Prom Gate Getaway for a mid-week escape in late March. This is a great place because it is close to Wilson's Prom and the cabin has everything you need for a comfortable stay. The scenery from the front deck and the lounge area is stunning. The cabin is well equipped for self-contained catering. There were few options for dining so it is best to plan to self-cater. Julie and Andy were great hosts and willing to help in every way possible.
We stayed at Prom Gate Getaway for 10 days over the New Year period. Julie and Andy were fantastic hosts, nothing was too much trouble. The cabins are great, with everything you need including kitchen and BBQ utensils. This is a great place to stay, very relaxing and quiet. Great to get away and recharge the batteries. I would definitely visit again.
Had a memorable stay at the Prom Gate Getaway. James is a very friendly and hospitable host. He helped us with every intricate detail to make our experience worthwhile. The cabin had stunning views of the sea and countryside. It was also extremely clean, well equipped, and had a self sufficient kitchen. The friendly and hospitable nature extends to their dog, Skye as well, who gave us a very warm company. We miss our stay here and would certainty be back.
My partner and I had a wonderful weekend a week ago. Friendly couple running Prom Gate Getaway. The cottage was clean and comfortable. Everything we needed was available. It’s a short drive from Wilson’s Prom national park. Lots of fresh air and beautiful scenery. We’ll definitely be back.
Great spot ,handy to Prom and Great rail trail . Sandie and Jamie great hosts with heaps of local knowledge and only to willing to help make visit the best!! Highly recommend and will certainly be back
Located 2 minutes outside Wilson’s Prom entrance and 5 from Yanakie for supplies and nice cafe. All cottages have an amazing view over towards the east side of the Prom and Corner Inlet. Really helpful and friendly owners. Cottage comfortably furnished, cosy, very clean and peaceful. Definitely recommended especially to escape the Prom Tidal River crowds.
The property hosted by Jim and Sandra is located just minutes away from the Proms entrance. We stayed in November in one of the cabins on this privately owned property. The cabins are very comfortable with all of the comforts of home and if you are lucky you may be visited by Skye the very friendly black Labrador. The owners were very welcoming and did not intrude on our stay, they were available if needed. The cabins have great views from the good sized balconies over green pastures to the sea and distant hills. Overall a very relaxing and enjoyable getaway.
We stayed here for 6 nights. It was spotlessly clean and right on Wilsons Prom National Park. The views were beautiful and it was very quiet. We loved their dog. Jim and Sandra were very welcoming. The cottage is small but all you need is provided. We used the b-b-que most nights and really enjoyed the deck. We had a wonderful stay before returning home. For us, there were only two negatives- the lack of WI-FI and no laundry. Having said this, we stayed for 6 nights and were coming off a camping trip, so the lack of laundry was only an issue to us. Anybody who stays for only a few nights would have no need of a laundry and I gather this is more the case for this accomodation. Jim told us where the laundromats were, so the problem was overcome. Jim informed me that the WI-FI is coming. After we left, I texted Jim about a matter and he returned my call and we had a long talk. This is a couple building a business, learning, as we all do, and prepared to listen to feedback, with humility. This is rare. He immediately changed one thing I suggested. I would recommend this place. It would be hard to find somewhere more restful and yet, it has the balance of all the walks and beauty of the Prom right at its door. We did heaps of walks every day and also visited Tara Valley(about an hour away), a magnificent rain forest. I believe Jim and Sandra are bothering to take in the feedback and change. This is a great attitude to business, being prepared to change and listen to your clients. …
Beautiful spot and well equipped cabin. Views simply stunning, and dog very friendly as others have mentioned. The reason this is a 3* rather than a 5* review however is due to the attitude of the owners which we did not find that welcoming unfortunately for two reasons. Firstly, my boyfriend and I turned up with two friends in the car as we were on the way into the park and dropping our friends off inside. Because the check in is only open 2-8pm and we were planning on eating dinner inside the park, we needed to come via the apartment to ensure we were in the time slot. Upon arrival we were asked why we had friends given we had booked for two people, which is a fair question and we understand they just wanted this confirmed. However once we explained we were giving our two friends a lift only and we would be back in the evening just the two of us we were treated with suspicion with the owners mentioning multiple times that the cabin was only for two people for various reasons. To be implicitly accused of lying when there was no upside to doing so (it is a 4 man cabin anyhow but we made it very clear our friends had other accommodation plans and just came with us as we were giving them a lift in from Melbourne and wanted to check in en route) was rather insulting. The owners then went into our allotted cabin and locked the spare room to ensure we would not go in there (our friends to clarify were two respectable professionals and looked as such, not dishonest looking people by any means!). Secondly, as mentioned the cabin itself is beautiful and equipped with everything needed (BBQ, implements etc). However there are signs up everywhere about cleanliness and losing your $100 deposit if not returned in the condition found, as well as strict instructions about not removing the table cloth, not taking the useful info out the cabin etc etc. Perhaps this is part of the reason the cabin is indeed very clean and well maintained, however we felt nervous to use anything to be honest or treat it like home as we saw prior reviews saying the deposit had not been refunded, therefore we opted to eat out. My own view is that the amount charged is fair but should clearly include cleaning for a 'getaway' which is equivalent to a BnB or hotel essentially. The owners should charge a mark up to include the fact there will be some depreciation and some items may get damaged as this is the nature of an accommodation business over time, rather than putting up somewhat passive aggressive signs around the place making you feel slightly uncomfortable. So overall 5* accommodation (although NB no wifi in cabins) but a 3* review. I don't want to put people off as genuinely we were very happy with the accommodation itself and the spot is simply perfect, however just a kind recommendation to treat your guests with a little bit more respect - particularly when they are clearly not suspicious looking people - as after all this is a hospitality business.Thank you.…
Cute little cabin! We were very happy of the place, clean and no spider web. Great sunrise and sunset overlooking at the Inlet. Jim and Sandra are great host! Genuine nice people and we have nice chat with them! Their dog, Skye just adorable! Good location, less than 10mins away from the Gate of Wilson Prom National Park. One of the highlight staying at Prom Gate Getaway is one morning we saw hundreds of cattles on the other side of the road! It's a nice view. Thanks Jim and Sandra😊
