The Quarters has become one of our GO TO places. The isolated location and the fact we are the last people in the last house on that coastline until you go way up the island near Wharerata. For us it fits well. It’s the fact there are no people, cars, cell phones or work. The feature rock is a lure...

We have just spent 3 days at The Quarters and are wishing we had stayed a week at least. The vision of the Roughs in bringing this historic house up to their property was extraordinary and has proved to provide one of those memorable experiences in the lives of hundreds of people around the world. Stunning accommodation, extraordinary views, yummy...

We arrived at 3pm to find that the owner Malcolm had double booked us. His bach is a long way off the beaten track and we had traveled a significant distance with a young family. He made no effort to offer us a drink, let us use the toilet, suggest another place that we could stay, or let us use...

We stayed at the Quarters for three nights as part of an extended 6 1/2 week holiday to New Zealand. The location is out of this world and views all around to die for, it was a shame that it got a little chilly in the evening as it would have been lovely to sit out on the decking. We...

We loved staying at The Quarters. The location overlooking the bay is spectacular. The accommodation was spacious and well equipped and Malcolm's meals were excellent. We enjoyed the farm tour and there are lots of energetic walks.

View, food, warm welcome and opportunities to explore the beautiful surroundings were excellent, however single bathroom and toilet struggled to cope comfortably with 8 people. Loved sitting on the deck looking at the changing sea and sky. Appreciated the farmer's 'Project Crimson Pohutukawa' tree planting initiative.

We wanted to escape and really relax on our holiday - our stay at the Quarters was perfect. It feels as though you are at the edge of the world, with the ocean blending into the horizon. Malcolm is a fantastic cook and delivered a delicious dinner for our first night: we wished that we hadn't brought so much food...

I stayed there last month for a weekend during my month in New Zealand, after one of my friends recommended it to me. And it's been one of the highlights of my trip!!! It's simply beautiful, peaceful and relaxing to just enjoy the stunning views and the tranquillity of the place. I highly recommend the sunrise... Oh, and if you...
