The accommodations are ok but upon arrived on a cold night the room was ice cold. It took us half an hour to take our coats off. As acomodações são adequadas mas o quarto estava gelado. Ficamos meia hora de casaco no quarto esperando ele aquecer.
A basic old fashion hotel. Clean functional rooms (though towels and amenities could be more appealing). Friendly staff. Nice breakfast. Good (and free) parking space. It serves well as a base to rest after the magnificent places to visit, but do not expect charm or fancy. Same applies to the restaurant.
Basic hotel, with clean functional rooms, folk decor, and friendly staff. At the rate they charge the rooms ought to be much nicer, and a good sight warmer. The views are not great and if you are on the wrong side of the hotel they are pretty depressing. Breakfast is so so, more impressive in quantity than quality.
I arrived in the evening to Urubici, and the hotel is located in the center of this little town, the woman in the reception was very nice and offered the three options of rooms, and I took the Alpino one, price was a bit steep, but the room was fine, not elegant, but I managed to sleep very well, and it was warm as outside was cold and wet, the parking was fine and the breakfast a bit poor, coffee not so good, but, it allowed me to visit the area quickly. As for dinner, I had some fish and it was very good, not gourmet food, but in those weather conditions, it was fine.
The Park Hotel Urubici has about as much park as New York City has tropical forests. We stayed here during a hiking excursion into the Serra Catarinense, as the hotel's website looked fairly nice, the lonely planet did not complain about it and because it had an indoor pool. Unfortunately, the hotel leaves much to desire: It is on the main town boulevard (which is fairly quiet), the rooms are slowly coming apart and dinner is awful - they served exactly the same buffet two nights in a row (and I assume that it was exactly the same food). The pool was ok, the rooms had central heating (!!!) and breakfast was acceptable. However, considering the price we paid, the hotel was not worth its while. We ended up moving to a "Hotel Fazenda" outside of town after two nights, which cost the same and ended up being a much better deal. If you do want to stay in town (which is ok - the town has a certain charm which is not evident at first sight), get one of the pousadas, of which there are many. On the upside: Parking and internet was free and internet was astonishingly fast... But do not go here.…
