We recently stayed for 2 nights while visiting Durham and found this lovely pub a great place to stay. From the warm welcome when we arrived to our check out, we couldn't find fault. Great room, fantastic staff, lovely food and nothing was too much trouble. We are already trying to find a date to return! Thanks a million.

I've eaten here on numerous occasions now. The food has always been good but this time the service was quite slow considering it wasn't too busy. It's a welcoming local pub serving decent beers and food. I occasionally use it as my local and it's always popular on a weekend night.

I have sampled Sunday lunch at this establishment and was very impressed by the quality, quantity and price. Even a choice of well done or pink roast meat. All served by helpful and friendly staff...well worth a return visit.

We stayed for two nights whilst visiting family in the area. Cute under eaves ensuite room (mind your head) with all the amenities you could want. Breakfast was lovely - fresh ingredients, put together well. The evening meal we had was also very good. Very welcoming and highly recommended

It was very close (five minutes drive) and the room was nicely decorated with great facilities (good shower in the en-suite, kettle, choice of drinks) and very comfortable beds. Breakfast was excellent - lots of choice and massive plates of delicious...

Second time we have had lunch at The Avenue. Enjoyed both times. Staff were welcoming and friendly. Food was served hot and was tasty. Prices were average for this area. My husband recommends the fish and chips. Will definitely go back.

My partner and i stayed for 2 nights between Christmas and new year. Staff very friendly and helpful. Room clean and comfortable, one problem was a noise sounded like someone using a drill or sander, but I think it was a ballcock problem as the room was above the pub tiolets. We ate there on the first night, food was...
