Pentre riding stables is a working stable and kennel offering B&B accommodation on the side of a mountain, opposite a castle, in the Brecon Beacons in South Wales. It is in a fantastic location with many attractions nearby. The Dan yr goff show caves are on the door step, as is the Craig y nos country park. Stunningly beautiful Gower, with its wide open beaches and dramatic cliffs is less than an hour away.
Our 4 person room had a fridge, microwave, crockery, television, iron and ironing board, ketttle, toaster and the ingredients for a generous continental breakfast were left in the room. We had an ensuite bathroom. Our view from the windows were of the sheep and horses on the mountain and every morning we could watch the horses being led off the mountain to the stable yard and be groomed by the local children ready for their days riding. It was absolutely charming and very good value for money.
The owner, Karen, her daughter and DJ were extremely friendly, welcoming and helpful, such lovely warm hearted hosts.
We did not want to leave and will definitely go again. If you are looking for a good value family base to explore this beautiful area of Wales, I thoroughly recommend Pentre Riding Stables.

We booked a 2 hour trek with the Stables, horses were in great condition, tack clean, ride took us up over the Brecon mountaiins/hills where views were stunning. Horses were so sure footed on the steep climb we felt so safe. After the ride we were booked in at the B&B for a night's stay, the room was very clean and smelt fresh. Fridge was well stocked for the continental breakfast in morning... Even had chocolates on the bed Lovely stay.. Will come again!

Brilliant experience at the Pentre Riding Stables. Our young and relatively inexperienced children had a lesson then a pony trek the following day, and they loved it. Kirsty and her team were incredibly encouraging and patient with them, and the horses & ponies are clearly well looked after. We will definitely go back.

Stayed there for 3 nights. It was booked as bed and breakfast, but we were given misleading information. A few weeks before the payment was taken, Pentre Riding Stables sent me a message saying that the breakfast will be served to the room. I didn't pay much attention to this until the last minute before arrival when I started asking questions about what Thom and how they are serving that breakfast. I received a response that the breakfast is a hamper basket and you have to prepare your breakfast from what your are given. In the basket we were given a few slices of cheap toast bread, two crumpets, two pancakes, a few little butters and two little marmalades, a few biscuits, a bottle of milk and a bottle of juice. There were jars of sugars sachets and cereal. No tea or coffee. On the last morning the jar of cereal disappeared. All that was given for 3 people. If we did not go shopping, we would be starving. All stuff was cheap stuff from Tesco. In the instructions book, there was information that due to COVID restrictions they are not serving cooked breakfasts. A bit outdated. There was no sink in the room, so we had to wash up in the bathroom basin which was extremely small. There was a microwave, a leaky kettle and a fridge in the room. The owner said that they are planning to install a kitchen sink in the room, but the room is always booked so there is no time to do so.
The bathroom was spacious enough, however smelly after using shower. Some plumbing work is definitely needed there. The shower sliding door were not properly fitted and there was a hole left in the ceiling.
We stayed in room 1, ground floor. The room was spacious, but the door definitely needs some repair. There is no WiFi or telephone signal in the building and nearby area, which makes things a bit difficult if you want to search information up. Also it makes it rather impossible to contact your hosts if anything in the room goes wrong.
On the positive side, our TV broke on the second day and was replaced straight away with a new one.

We stayed at Pentre stables B&B just a couple of nights before coming back to our city life...we really enjoyed the the location immersed in the green hilly side of the Brecons, with stunning view all around!
Every major walk was in the near proximity, with the Four Fall walk just 20min aways and other major waterfall and caves walk at just 10/15min away.
Kirsten and Karen where both very friendly and welcoming, organising a continental breakfast for us ready in the room (we stayed in a studio with kitchenette) and our own personal bathroom.
I have never been horse riding before and Kirsten was so nice to organise a a horse ride for us at the last minute! Was a wonderful experience all round, will recommend perfect accomodation for who loves nature, walks and farm activities or just for someone who wants to escape the always buzzing city life... Thanks again, we'll be back!

We had booked to stay at The Riding Stables. Karen contacted us earlier in the day as a courtesy to say she had placed us in the cottage instead. This was just perfect as we were walking The Beacons Way which went directly past the front door to her lovely cottage. We stayed upstairs in a double en-suite which included a kitchen area with fridge, microwave, toaster, kettle and sink etc. More than ample breakfast items were provided. We had a fabulous view out of the window to the mountain opposite. Karen was especially welcoming and friendly and even helped us arrange take away pizzas to be delivered. To top that she asked her daughter to bring us a beer and cider and wouldn’t take any money for it. We wouldn’t hesitate to stay here again. Thank you Karen for your hospitality.

A friend and I stayed in the cottage down the road from the stables, the room was lovely. clean and comfortable, had a fridge, a microwave and we had a lot of breakfast options. Nothing was too much for DJ who was so kind and helpful throughout our stay. We went on a trek in the Beacons, both of us with different experience levels and we were both catered for so well. I then had a lesson the next day with Kirsty which was fabulous. The riding fascilites were great and you can tell the horses are so well cared for. Kirsty was a kind and really effective teacher for both me as an experienced rider and my friend as someone with less experience, Would definitely recemmend staying here!!

We stayed here for a wedding held at the castle across the road. The room we stayed in on the ground floor was awful. Smelly, the bed had not been changed and there was a toilet brush in the bathroom covered in feaces which stank out the entire room. The floor was sticky, covered in bits and I don't think the room had been cleaned from the previous people who had stayed. In general, dirty and unclean. The breakfast was strange with old cereal stuck in canisters. The bed was incredibly uncomfortable and broken with it sagging in the middle. It was quite concerning when we left our room and locked the door and when we returned, the door was wide open! The lock had not closed and left our belongings at risk especially as the front entry door was left open all the time. The only good thing was the ideal location by the castle but I would never ever return.

Karen was very accommodating when we had a nightmare with other accommodation. Our room was originally booked for 2 people but we were allowed to add a 3rd at last minute thanks to Karen. Comfy accommodation that allows dogs too. Only disappointing thing was no Wi-Fi code and a tv that had no signal for channels. Overall great accommodation and value for money, perfect location for Craig y nos Castle. Will recommend!

At the beginning of our trek, we were given clear and helpful instruction in order to communicate with our horses. The stables are very well staffed under Kirsty’s expert guidance. Our 2 hour trek took us along a quiet bridleway to the back of Craig -y -nos country park, a really striking landscape. Kirsty took care with all the riders and horses and made sure that our feet were in the right position, our hands were holding the reins correctly and that we were giving the horses the correct signals. It was great to have a chance to trot! Brilliant, we loved it! Thank you, Kirsty and team! Hope to see you at Easter. 🐎🐎

Hello, I didn't in fact stay there as they let me down 3 hours before I was due to arrive but I did stay opposite them for 2 nights. The house appeared well cared for but the land around them looked very scruffy and uncared for. As above I would encourage you to do more research.
