We enjoyed our stay here, the food was really good and very reasonably priced. The pub is full of the character you would expect and want. The bed was extremely comfortable and we had a great nights sleep. We had breakfast of a hearty full English which set us up for a days walking in the beautiful surrounding countryside. We...

Great traditional Yorkshire hostelry. Home-cooked stick to your ribs fayre, well kept ales, friendly landlord & staff. Even the landlord's imposing hound, which is the size of a Shetland pony, is a softy.. unless you're a robber, in which case I wish you the best of British luck, because you will not leave these premises in one piece..!

Five of us had a brilliant meal on Saturday night. We had a little bit of a wait but it was well worth it. Both starters and main courses were unbelievable value for money and, although some of our group planned to have a pudding, they couldn't manage one! Excellent price for food and drinks. Keep up the good work!

Friendly little local pub with its own car park and a cosy rather eclectic interior. Lots of lunchtime options including Yorkshire puddings filled with sausages, beef or curry. Reasonable price and beautiful village with dozens of properties over 300 years old. I recommend a walk alongside the very shallow stream with all its bridges across to the houses - this...

Not been here for years since my old boarding school days. We were sheltering from the Yorkshire wind and rain. Still has the sane olde world charm, quirky pub, great food with a warm welcome. Service was fast and the menu extensive, must return again next time I'm over Capt Medley Isle of Man

We have popped in a couple of times for a drink and found the manager and his wife to be very welcoming and chatty. They gave us advice about local walks and where to take our dog. The beer and cider were lovely.

Three of us with 2 dogs called in for a beer whilst out walking in the area. Promptly told no dogs whilst food being served. However no diners were present at this time & a dog was sat tied to the bar. We retreated to the beer garden. We ordered our pints & sat chatting. Of the 3 pints, one...

Went here for a meal this evening after looking up on TripAdvisor for suggestions. The previous evening we'd been to a pub where Chicken Korma and Salmon on Crushed potatoes was served indifferently within 10 minutes - we were out within 1/2hr. What a difference this place was. We were welcomed from the start and the waitress was a joy....

We were staying in Giggleswick for 2 nights and my wife found the Black Horse on an afternoon walk and said we should pop in. We had a mini beer session in the afternoon, Settle brewery Jericho and Mainline Bitter on - brilliant. We had planned dinner somewhere else but decided to come back for our evening meal and were...

Group of us went here for a birthday meal, I ordered Chicken Kiev, it came with chips and veg, the Kiev was very nice but could have done with more garlic butter in it as I had a job to find any. The waitress was very friendly and I can't really fault the place, it is full of olde worlde...
