This place knows service! When you take the Glenn Highway make this place a must stop for lunch. Mark and his impeccable staff really go above and beyond to ensure prompt service and they thrive on delicious food. I love the salmon chowder, and my...More
We stayed one night at Sheep Mountain Lodge on our way driving from Seward over to Kennicott, and it was a lovely cabin with all the necessities: comfy beds and linens, tidy kitchen with all you needed, a delicious restaurant, a great management and staff....More
My husband, adult son and I stayed one night at the lodge in June. We had to split our two nights in this area between two different establishments, due to availability. The other night was spent at Tundra Rose Cottages. Both are very nice. I...More
I'm normally more of a hotel person, but Sheep Mountain Lodge got such great reviews, and is one of the few lodging establishments near Matanuska Glacier, that I decided to give it a try. I was not disappointed. The cabin (#1) was immaculate, with everything...More

The two are about five hours apart (more like six in the summertime) and there is one main route. You'll head south on the Parks Highway (highway 1) until you get to the interchange with the Glenn Highway (highway 3.). Take the Glenn north to Sheep Mountain Lodge. It's a lovely drive. You can cut through the town of Wasilla to save a few minutes but it's not probably not worth it if you're new to the area. Have a safe trip!
