What a great place and an even better staff. I make extended trips to Chiang Mai a couple of times a year and so long stays (30+ days) are the norm for me. And what a pleasure to stay here. It is a "vegan" resort, meaning the dining room is vegan and the entire facility is non-smoking. I love the no smoking anywhere policy and although I'm not vegan, I still enjoy the included breakfast in the very nice dining room (with a superb staff). The facility and pool are very attractive - I just really like the look of the place. The location is fantastic, on a quiet soil, and just a minute walk to the Tha Pae gate. Both my girlfriend and I highly recommend this place, so high praise from both a westerner and a Thai local.

We completely enjoyed our stay at Away Chiang Mai Thapae Resort. We paid for their airport transfer, and they were right at the exit holding a sign with our name, then a very pleasant conversation from our welcoming driver Alex. He later would see us at the hotel and gave the warmest sincere greetings. In fact, the whole staff was a delight and provided for any need we had. Even though we are not vegan, the breakfast was always enjoyable with many items to choose from on the buffet. The suite and bathroom was very clean, spacious and comfortable, beautifully decorated. The area was quiet and a quick walk (3 minutes) to a main gate entering the old city. So really we had the best of both locations... peaceful and quiet hotel, and in close proximity to the busy streets of the old city. We did not utilize the spa, but did sit around the pool one afternoon, and the cool water was refreshing and clean. Most impressive was the overall peaceful feeling we had anytime we returned through the entrance gate, like a "welcome home" breath of fresh air. If we ever return to the lovely vibe of Chiang Mai, this will be where we choose to stay again. I rarely take the time to leave a review, but this place and its staff deserve my time to lift them up to the attention of other travelers who are looking for a good recommendation. Don't hesitate to stay here. Enjoy your time in Chiang Mai. And while I'm at it, I'll put in a big recommendation for Elephant Nature Park, which is a 1.5 hour van ride each way and several hours walking among rescued elephants in a sanctuary setting, plus a delicious vegan buffet lunch. Away Chiang Mai is awesome! Staff is great, rooms are comfortable, location is perfect. Restaurant is all vegan and it's delicious. Pool is cool and half of it is shaded most of the day. You should stay here!

I great experience, super friendly and helpful staff, clean and beautiful property, nice vibes, they follow small sustainable practices that make a big difference. Extremely clean and beautiful hotel. Pool and surrounding atmosphere is also very relaxing. Vegan breakfast buffet has a lot of fresh fruits and vegetables, along with variety of warm food and vegan bakery, and coffee was very fresh and delicious. One more very convenient thing was anywheel(shared bicycle) station in the hotel. I used the bicycle when I was in Chiang Mai old city and it was very helpful in hot weather.

The hotel is located close to everything. The meals there were delicious. And the staff went above and beyond to help with outings and spa appointments. It was clean and quiet. The pool was great for chilling when the afternoon heat was too much. I would definitely return and stay here again.

Fantastic!!! This hotel is super clean and very cute. The staff goes above and beyond to make your stay comfortable and make you feel at home. I stayed here during a Thai massage retreat so we had a very large group. The kitchen opened up earlier than normal to accommodate us when we had early morning outings. They also remembered my iced coffee for me everyday even though it’s not common for them to have at the buffet. Would highly recommend staying here. The pool is cute and the Thai massage I had was by far the best one I had while in Thailand.
