Poor service, the room is filthy literally everything. Sink is filled and full of bird’s poo. Three electricity sockets are broken, Lights are not working and broken except for one. TV is broken. Power is out for almost 2hours. A very frustrating and stressful trip. The staff are pretty cool about the complaints😡 The pool is not maintained dirty water. Curtains are stinky and full of stains never been washed. Breakfast is of little choice and not to the best quality and taste. The beach is beautiful and a stray and lovely dog are the only great stuff that has made my day. This place is not value for money for anything! Would not recommend to anyone after a horrible stay and experience. Never ever coming back!

📍 Roxy Sematan Beach Resort A 3 hour drive from Kuching towards Sematan and you’ll arrive at a HOTSPOT of a location. Roxy’s beach resort is THE thing, and it explodes with patrons on weekends! Thankfully, we came on a weekday where it was very much less crowded; and we were also given frontliner promo rates(only available on weekdays), and we stayed in the Beachfront Canopy! 😄 Perfect for the four of us (myself, Michelle, mom and sister) Beach Vibes 🏖 that’s the only reason you’d come all the way here. With kilometres of an endless sandy beach stretch, and especially with the backdrop of Talang-Talang Island, it truly is picturesque. Rent a bicycle, rev up an ATV, go kayaking or jet skiing, or even rent a speedboat to Talang-Talang Island; there’s really quite a lot to do! At night, Michelle and I strolled at beach in the dark; it was romantic and breezy. 🍲 Roxy’s food court is vibrant with life, and the Chinese seafood (Sam Tsai Seafood) there was really good! Just don’t expect too much from the buffet breakfast spread though 😅 after all, the main reason you’d come here is for the beach vibes. Travel Tip: -go on weekdays. Really. The staff told me that on weekends, the beach is incredulously full of people; almost the entire stretch of beach is occupied. -if you’re a frontliner, give them a call and get your frontliner promo 😃 just show your badge upon checking in. -use Waze, expect a road trip for 3 hours 🚗

Went there with my family for the weekend. They claimed to have jetski and atv rental, which we booked. But when the time came, the items were either being serviced, or the staff in-charge was not around, or it was not the right time. Eventually we never got to use it. The swimming pool was under maintenance on the day of our arrival. The rooms were clean but the cleaners never came to service it during our 3-days stay. The beds were hard and uncomfortable. The food served at breakfast was bland. The staff were not friendly or helpful...they had a 'couldn't care less' attitude. We stayed at the townhouse and the main switch tripped during our stay. We tried calling the front desk, and no one answered. We had to go there and find someone to assist us with the main switch. It turned out you can't switch on the air-con and the hot water at the same time, which was inconvenient. For a newly built hotel, the place was still not in tip top condition. Only good thing was microwave and washing machine was provided at the townhouse. The beach was also not very clean as it had lots of rubbish around the area.

We stayed in one of the 'yurt style' glamping tents close to the beach. They were spacious, and came with AC and outside toilet/shower facility. There are BBQ stations nearby so if you want you can do own cooking. Otherwise the restaurant serving evening meals was outstanding. Absolutely the best meal in Malaysia, two nights running, with perfect sea view to go with it. Brekfasts are nothing to write home about, if you use their coupon system. A la carte is better. This place is very locally run, by people with limited English & big hearts. They were kind and helpful. It is however transforming into a resort, with a large hotel and apartments coming up already. If you want to visit the authentic locality, go now.... this place will change courtesy to pan Borneo highway. If you want full mod cons and swimming pools etc, wait about 2 years.... Either way, great food, beautiful scenery and friendly people :)
