We recently stayed on Ometepe for 3 days and the first two were spent in Totoco Eco Lodge. The roads are good on the first section of the island although from Santa Domingo onwards they really deteriorate. This isn't a problem other than it slows your trip down somewhat, although who's in a rush? The drive way takes you up...

I've been meaning to write a review since my wife and I came here last summer (8/2010). We stayed in the Tonatiu cottage and loved it. It's like campling in true style. We did encounter some of the more scary looking spiders here, but what else do you expect when you are staying halfway up a volcano in a jungle...

My husbandand I stayed at Totoco Lodge for one night when a friend was visiting from the U.S. We stayed in the lodge that has a Queen bed and a daybed for a guest. It was quite comfortable and private. We had our own small terrace with a nice hammock and a beautiful Queen four poster bed. All the beds...

Many place claim to be Eco-lodges. Totoco is the real thing. They are off the grid, use rain water, recycle grey water, locally sustainable. The amazing thing is they sacrifice nothing in terms of accommodation. The bedding is immaculate. They have an infinity pool. The cooking is excellent. And the owners are genuine, amazing people. We wished we would have...

We just returned from a great trip to Nicaragua and stayed at Totoco for 3 days after finding it on TripAdvisor. Just as everyone else noted, the eco-lodge is very unique and Martin, the owner, is very nice and helpful. The lodge is beautiful - open and airy with gorgeous wood furniture and a nicely stocked bar (Eric, who started...

My girlfriend discovered Totoco Eco-Lodge on the internet, and it was far beyond our expectations. Perched on the side of one of Ometepe's volcanos, this property offered stunning views of the sunset, Volcan Concepcion, and the surrounding lake. We enjoyed excellent views from the swimming pool, the restaurant/bar area, and our charming villa. Many hotels describe themselves as "eco lodges",...

We stumbled across this amazing lodge after stopping at 4 very sub-par hostels in Balgue. We had no idea what was in store at the end of the cobblestone path 1km up the side of Volcano Madaras. When we finally arrived we were pleasantly surprised with what we found. A beautiful reception area at the entry of the open air...

My husband, I and our two teenagers stayed here for two nights after visiting Granada, and before heading to San Juan del Sur. I was a little worried that it would be too much getting to the lodge and back, because we had only seven nights in Nicaragua, but I am really happy we made the trip. Ometepe was well...

Wow! So beautiful an quiet! And the view.... You can see the volcano from every spot at the lodge! Great food and service! Loved every minute we spent there. That's the place to stay if you are coming to ometepe.

My wife and I recently returned from a delayed honeymoon where we had the pleasure to visit and stay at Totoco Eco Lodge. The tranquility and views from Totoco can't be beat and there is no place on the island that offers this type of once in a lifetime experience. They have done a fantastic job of incorporating local and...
