This is our family's birthday month trip and our second time to Kota Kinabalu. This time, we chose to spend our time in 3 hotels, Le Meridien, Shangri-la Tangung Aru and Gayana Eco Resort. The prices of the three hotel are from around RM330 to RM850 and RM1210 per night. From the price, you can see that Gayana was the...

An excellent location within a marine park and built on stilts over the sea, with well equipped chalets; the larger ones have outside verandahs, and those facing the sea have direct access to the shallows. It is peaceful and the well organised; making this stress free travel. Stress free, but not cheap, especially considering the added service charge and Government...

From the moment we checked in ( at their office at Jesselton Pier) until the moment we alighted the boat two nights and three days later, we were looked after like friends! The man who joined us on the outward journey (I don't remember his name, sorry) provided us with interesting information about the cultural history of Sabah. We were...

The bathrooms were not cleaned properly - the vanity top around the basin and the mirror was not clean on arrival and after 2 days of us being there and it still not being cleaned, I called in housekeeping and pointed it out to them. They did clean it then but the villas need a really deep spring clean and...

We spent four nights at Gayana Eco Resort in July for a beach break as we travelled around western Borneo. We had a lovely, relaxing time snorkelling, taking dips in the infinity pool, eating and reading. This resort has some really stand-out features, but there is some room for improvement, especially around their "Eco" philosophy. We had a lagoon room...

Our family of 6 stayed for a week to complete our PADI open water qualification and get in some extra dives. The water bungalows are comfortable (we had ocean view villas with stunning views). The restaurants have delicious food and delightful, smiley staff. There is very limited choice with only the Chinese Alu Alu restaurant or the Macac 'fusion' restaurant...

We are having honey moon holiday from 2-4 June at Gayana Resort. The environment is amazing.Beautiful seaview at my room. It's so great to snorkeling straight from my villa! The spa is so far so good. Special thanks to Alexandra, Shayin and Poneiane Puno Jr, they provided an excellent service to us through out our honeymoon trip!!

We spent 6 nights here and had two ocean Villas so we splashed out (financially as well as literally). For the money we spent though we found aspects of this resort poor. But first the good things. The views are amazing and so is the snorkelling straight off your deck. It was certainly an experience to be there. The place...

We stayed at Gayana after doing a 7 night tour of Sabah. It was the perfect spot to rejuvenate! We had a small problem with our villa, which was fixed very promptly. Check in at the pier was quick and easy, we received a cold drink. Once on the island, we were met by staff who gave us a tour...
