The Talbot is set in a very scenic village (do take a look at the village church as well) and is a classic English pub The interior is a maze of quite small rooms, and for lunch you want to get a table in the larger (its still small) front room away from the bar The food was well cooked, flavoursome...

Lovely location, delicious dinner, but when they say small room, they're not kidding! Make sure you are in for the evening before you open your suitcase, because once it's open, there is no space to get around it to the door. The bathroom is extremely tiny. The "King" bed must be the U.K. version because it's definitely too small for...

Lovely comfortable room with added extras (eg fresh coffee & cafetiere) & luxury toiletries. Excellent and interesting breakfast. We had dinner which was reasonably priced and exceptionally good. Friendly, relaxed, and in a picture postcard village with great walks. Perfect for a short break.

We only went here for a sandwich for lunch but were really impressed. A very good menu and food delicious. Service was friendly and helpful and the beer good too! An interesting pub with cosy rooms so quite intimate and peaceful. Lots of history here and the outbuildings and courtyard interesting. Would definitely go back so I recommend it.

Such a lovely place to stay, the food and service were fantastic and our room, though small was incredible comfortable and beautifully decorated. We were there for a friends wedding and it was two nights away from our children and we had the most relaxing stay. Hugely comfortable bed, great movies to watch and they even kept and sent on...

What Samuel Johnson would have made of The Talbot Inn, had he been travelling from London to Wells, would make a good conversation piece in the bar of this lovely old coaching inn/country pub. Certainly he would have been confused and delighted by the utter comfort of the bedrooms and their en-suites. And, surely he would have enjoyed the bonhomie...

We came here (myself, my husband, and my mum and dad) at 6:30pm for a drink on Mother's Day. Decided to stay for food. Didn't feel massively welcome. My mum ordered fish and chips with peas - and was told there were no peas that evening. So my mum said "ok that's fine. Please can I have extra salad with...

What I like to call "delunctional". Delicious. Functional. Functional hey. Quintessential country pub with as good a burger as we've had in a long time and delicious risotto. In fact, the other (better, wiser) half said it was the best she has had since impregnating). Very impressed. The Butcombe ale was served chilled which I have to say was perfect....

The warmth of this place is hard to describe. It appeals to all my senses. The food is divine, the selection at the bar is thoughtful, quirky and smart. The rooms are utterly blissful, from the art work that rejects placid hotel convention to the little brown bag beside the exquisite tea selection bearing chocolate brownies even a non-chocolate lover...
