Jungle Lodge has everything you want in a jungle stay. Sensational jungle view from your balcony and from the restaurant, easy access to the clear blue river, very friendly staff, access to great jungle guides to take you around. I loved it here so much that I have since come back again and again. Throughout the years I have seen many people fall in love with this place. If you are looking for a truly Indonesian, less touristy jungle experience, visit Jungle Lodge. You won't regret it.

Fantastic eco-tourism destination. I was particularly fond of the private but outdoor bathrooms. The common space was a beautiful breezy design - everything made from bamboo - nice aesthetics & to the touch. I loved tubing down the river. And our adventure to the hot springs (strong swimmers only).

This place has stolen my heart! The accommodation has all the basic needs covered and the rooms are so relaxing and inviting. The view is incredible! You can walk and swim in the river and hot springs and see an abundance of wildlife on walks. I highly recommend going and offering to help plants trees, trekking and jumping in tubes and floating down the river past the jungle or visiting the waterfalls. The staff working here were just the kindness people I've ever met. The local jungle boys are beautiful! Make sure you bring extra cash to buy some local art from Choky's art gallery and support the locals. I highly recommend staying here you will not be disappointed!

This is an extremely simple hotel, perfectly located for walks down to the river and for the elephant encounter you can do here. There are also orangutans (although we didn't spot any whilst we were here), monkeys who were jumping into the river and swimming around, hot springs, waterfalls, butterflies; and the friendliest local people you could meet. Food at the hotel was delicious and the restaurant overlooks the river below, a lovely place to spend an evening. I would definitely recommend staying here longer than one night, I could have stayed a week!

The jungle lodge is a "basic" type of accommodation but we really enjoyed our short stay there. The lodge is situated on the far side of the river and you cross a suspension footbridge to access that part of the village. NB the Jungle Lodge is a further 400m walk after crossing the footbridge. (locals will carry all your bags for a reasonable tip). A must when staying in this area is to take part in the Elephant Jungle Patrol (including the washing and feeding of the elephants). Good clean, basic accommodation with cold showers.

We stayed for 2 nights at the jungle lodge. Rooms and facilities are rather basic (esp bathrooms) and you have to accept some wildlife making its way into your rooms! Fabulous balcony views, and wonderful terrace over the river for the restaurant, absolutely stunning. Bathing in river too. You really are properly staying in the jungle....Staff lovely and friendly and food good although menu fairly basic. A short walk up the road was the wonderful elephant camp where we went and fed and bathed the elephants!

On a tour we stayed at lots of places and this lovely little shack was my favourite. Sadly I wished I could have stayed longer. Yes it's basic. The bed is really comfortable. The lights when they work are dim. The toilet is basic scoop to flush. The shower cold water only which is so refreshing. A balcony with table bench and a hammock. No air con. The towels smelt amazing. A little walk to the bar restaurant and a great atmosphere, lovely staff, simple cheap food. Local guitar playing and singing at night. Friendly dogs too. Take a torch and an umbrella. If you want to escape come here. Lay under your patched mozzie net, listen to the river, monkeys etc and relax. If you want luxury and mod cons and WiFi it's not for you. Thank you for the great experience in an amazingly beautiful place

Jungle lodge is an accommodation located at the corner of Taman Nasional Leuser Park. A small and clear water river flowing next to it. Much better than any swimming pool. A place with elephants. With some help from local guide, we can track the jungle which a lot of botanical knowledge

We took the family room, a two bedroom two floor house with a wrap-around balcony. The idea was good, we would be close to the kids, but not be in the same space. The problem is the room is old and beaten up. It looks like no-one has touched it for a while, only a few lightbulbs work the mosquito nets are dirty and patched with sellotape, and the bathroom is filthy. It really wouldn't take much to make it great but there is a general air of decline and not really caring about the place. The boss was away, it was low season, and we were often the only people staying so the staff did not really seem to care much if we were there or not. The resident guide, Hindra was great though and did his best to make it all worth while, even lending us his dog for security at night. The new rooms look like they may be better, and looking around at other spots in Tangkahan, Jungle Lodge is comparatively not the worst (as we discovered when we moved to the Mega Inn down the road). It is just a shame, as it could be a great spot, in front of glorious views with some cleaning and minor reparations.
