We have just returned home after six days of enjoying the wonderful hospitality of Laurel House. We are already missing the comfortable surroundings, the magnificent breakfasts, the warm and friendly banter, and the "nothing's too much" attitude of Jeff and Alex. We had a great holiday - Culgaith is a really great location to see so much - the lakes...

Many thanks for your wonderful review. It was a tough job visiting all the local hostelries, trying different types of ale, and tasting the food - but it had to be done! We really appreciate your comments, and look forward to your return.

Laurel House is situated around 7 miles out of Penrith on the eastern side in the village of Culgaith. The owners provide useful instructions for visitors to help them locate their property. The house sits beautifully 25 yards back from the road and its front gardens, lawn and path are immaculately presented. This pleasing on the eye first impression is...

Alex and Jeff are just the kind of couple that make a bed and breakfast great. This is a lovely area to stay, in beautiful countryside. We enjoyed two days cycling the quiet lanes, enough hills to provide a challenge, but not too many to be off putting. Jeff and Alex are a mine of information about the area and...

Fabulous stay at this lovely place. Owners are so welcoming and friendly. They couldn't do enough for us. Welcome with fresh warm scones. Beautiful room, comfy bed, and amazing breakfast. Amazing restaurant a short walk away with, Mrs Millers, fab food and very friendly staff. Can't fault it in any way. Had 2 nights here, sorry to leave.

Visited a couple of years ago and was impressed by the hosts Alex and Jeff the standards then was excellent. How do you improve perfection? They were just as good.It was noted that my comment about the steps at the gate needing a discreet hand rail was taken on board and implemented.Thank you very much for your hospitality once again.

Stayed here at very short notice on a very cold Cumbrian night, while visiting family in the area. Was welcomed very warmly and shown to a beautiful warm room. Bed was supremely comfortable, shower was fantastic. The breakfast was enormous (and I'm a big bloke!) Wonderful fresh fruit and cereal followed by sausages, bacon, eggs, beans, tomato, potatoes, fried bread,...

Absolutely superb BB with all the attention and and facilities anyone could ever want. As we set off for a snowy walk to summit Skiddaw we were presented with a hamper containing freshly baked scones and a flash of hot chocolate. Just what was needed after a brisk day on the winter fells.
