Stayed one night and had dinner. This is a really nice traditional pub with a couple of bedrooms, NOT a gastropub. There is a very good atmosphere, lots of locals and also very welcoming to visitors. Good, well-kept beer. Very friendly team. Short-ish food menu, but excellent quality ingredients and preparation - a cut above regular 'pub fare'. Accommodation fairly... More

A very nice restaurant in a very nice area, The Bell is a very good place to eat or drink, with friendly staff and a nice interior. I also like the parking and the snooker table, the simple things that make a difference.

Me and my husband stayed here recently in the TACK room. We arrived to all the locals at the bar and a lovely young lady who showed us to our room. The pub had a great atmosphere . The accommodation was very nice , clean , and the bed was very comfy. We came on a beautiful day which we... More

The accommodation was very disappointing. The room was dark and dreary in a converted stable block. The decorations were tired. The approach through a very unkempt garden was worryingly scruffy. The chef was 'off' on the evening we ate there and the food was heavy and very pubby. The breakfast the next day was OK but nothing special. We have... More

We booked 2 nights b&b and reserved dinner for the first night. After a 7 hour journey we were informed that the chef had left the day before and we would have to eat elsewhere, hence another car jouney. We should have been informed prior to our arrival as our contact details were given at the time of booking. We... More

Nice country pub in pleasant semi rural location. The bedrooms in converted outbuildings were spacious and clean and the staff were very friendly. Breakfast was good (I'd recommend the eggs benedict). There was a bbq in the pub garden on day of village fete, I only had burger but that was good quality too.

Popped in with friends for a quick lunchtime drink, was warmly welcomed by the new Australian landlord Andy. Great selection of drinks were available and the retro ambience was complimented by a soothing playlist from the superb bespoke speaker system. My only complaint is that I had to leave and couldn't stay for more! Will be coming back soon!

We met here with 12 people from our family including children. Firstly I felt the restaurant was quite cramped for 12 of us and there was a lot of squeezing in and out behind chairs. The food came fairly promptly and was delicious. The steaks were a bit tough but my pork belly was delicious. But our waitress had no... More

Official Description (provided by the hotel)
This traditional village pub dates back to the 15th century with our snug area dating back to 1107! Legend has it, that the original building was used as accommodation for the monks that built Iden church. We have two delightful letting rooms, separate to the pub. Rooms offer king sized beds and en-suite facilities. Other features include original oak beams within the letting rooms and the main inn. Make yourselves tea and coffee in vintage china in the morning in bed whilst watching television with freeview prior to popping over the the restaurant for a sumptuous hearty breakfast using fresh local produce - continental and full English are offered. We are proud of our home cooked food and offer far more than your usual pub grub. Our food is locally sourced where possible and reflects seasonal changes. We are a perfect dining space for a romantic dinner for two, a family celebration or a private party. ... more   less
