The Lumba Lumba Diving Centre is a very welcoming and friendly environment with lovely people and staff. It is a center that not only provides professional diving experiences and fun courses but gives off a very warm and homey feel.

As a fairly experienced diver I took my Rescue Diver certificate here and had the luxury of doing so with a small group of a total of three divers. It was done very professionally with endless of hours spent practicing in the water over the course of three days and very giving discussions about the content of the course.

Another thing that is so great about Lumba Lumba is that the staff not only are very friendly, helpful and safety cautious but are very passionate about diving and makes sure to give their customers the best diving experience possible. Whether it be asking for personal preferences on things to look out for before a dive or engaging with the customers about the dive afterwards.

The location is very calm, beautiful and relaxed with a few different food options (local Indonesian and Western food) within a few hundred meters from the dive center along the beach. Accommodation is excellent.

I had a wonderful experience staying at Lumba Lumba and I only have good things to say about the place. I would definitely love to come back!

We had a wonderful experience diving with at staying at Lumba Lumba. Everyone working there is extremely friendly and helpful; the general atmosphere in the dive shop is very relaxed, I felt very much at home from the first moment. The location is very calm and beautiful with a few different food options (both Indonesian and Western) within walking distance. Accommodation is excellent. Unbeatable prices for diving and certification - I got certified here because I don't think I'll ever find a cheaper option!

We were looking for dive centers in Pulau Weh and found quite a few diving centers. It is said, that most of the beautiful diving spots are close to Gapang, so we went to all diving centers to get a personal impression. When we came to Lumba Lumba we were impressed by the professional look, organized staff and quality of the equipment. Honestly you can find cheaper diving centers around Gapang, but Lumba Lumba has the best equipment, nicest rooms of all. Also the guides were extremly good! Finally (like you could read in the other comments) it felt like coming home ... we were included in the Lumba Lumba family immediately and are still in contact due all these years. I am sure, if you book with Lumba Lumba, you won't regret it!

My partner and I have been to Lumba Lumba a number of times for extended stays. The dive sites are great - diving the same sites (sometimes on the same day) offers a very different experience each time due to the currents and underwater topography around the island. I like to think Lumba Lumba and Pulau Weh offer a bit of everything - depth, current, wrecks, schools of devil rays/ barracuda/ fusiliers, shore dives, day trips etc.

Instructors and guides here are top notch; we completed our rescue and divemaster certifications here and the staff have proven both able and willing to help with all aspects of the training. Rental equipment and dive boats are also well maintained, dive sites are relatively close to shore and the boats return to the centre for surface intervals. Dive groups are small and the guides are very experienced.

On land, the dive centre has a laid back vibe and the staff are extremely helpful and friendly. We have also met some great people here and the large number of repeat customers is a testament to both the diving and staff.

Hoping to return once the world sorts itself out!

Lumba Lumba is family. As soon as you arrive, you are welcomed into that family and made to feel completely at home. The dive masters treat everyone, no matter the experience, with care and attention. I have dived in some of the most popular sites around the world and sadly the behaviour of the dive school has spoilt the experience. You can tell that these guys see their job as a privilege and they treat the sea with respect.

The sites are all different and the marine life and coral are spectacular. The boats are a few steps from the dive shop which makes everything extremely easy.

The small beach in front of the shop is so peaceful, it could almost be classed as private. Perfect for a spot of sun worshipping! The owners care so much about their surroundings and will regularly clean up the beach, collecting any bits of rubbish that they see along the full stretch.

Honestly, I wish I was there now. As soon as the world reopens it’s doors, I’ll be back!

Fantastic diving experience for open water and advanced divers. Guides really friendly and enthusiastic, great at spotting small creatures on the reef that would be so easy to miss. So many fish at the dive sites and reasonable amount of coral. We saw turtles, eagle rays and sharks as well as lots of nudibranches, eels and shrimp. Beautiful dive sites. I did deep dive and night dive adventure dives which were well instructed and led. On all of the dives I felt safe, and equipment seems to be well maintained.
The house reef just 10m off shore has a surprising amount of fish and coral at shallow depth so perfect for snorkeling.
We stayed in one of the cottages. The accommodation was clean and comfortable. It may be slightly more expensive than other nearby accommodation but the convenience for diving, snorkeling and the nearby waterfall was great.
The on site restaurant has a lot of choice and the food is generally tasty. Service is a bit slow and there are better places on the island but for convenience and a place to sit and relax it is a good option.
The whole Lumba Lumba team are very welcoming and helpful. They organised transfers for us back to the ferry port and organised scooters for us to hire and explore the island. They also helped us get cash out because they're was a problem with ATMs when we were on the island.
Overall the Lumba Lumba staff/guides and the aquatic life really make Lumba Lumba a dive centre I can recommend.

LumbaLumba is a great diving center. My boyfriend and I took diving courses (open water / advanced) and the instructors are great, always taking the time to guide you through theory and practice and really adding value on top of what is written in the PADI materials. What is also nice is that all of the crew are genuinely passionate about diving and marine life and they are good at getting that across. Pulau Weh has a nice, relaxt atmosphere, diving and food is very affordable and people are great. So go!

Went to Lumba Lumba dive centre in September last year. Spent 4 great days there.
Pulau Weh is easy to reach and the whole trip was very affordable. The dive center is located in a quiet stretch of beach. The resort is comfortable. The local food is good. The staff are friendly and most importantly the diving was fantastic. Eventhough the dive sites are nearby, the corals were healthy and there's plenty of fish.
I would highly recommend this place and waiting to go back there to spend a longer time.

Was choosing between staying in Iboih or Gapang and had 4 dive centers in mind but Lumba Lumba stands out as their reply was fast and detailed. Henny that was dealing with my bookings via email was so helpful and friendly! I just had to go with them.

Stayed and dived with them for 5D4N. Everything was so well managed from emails to airport transfer to ferry transfer, accommodation and diving. Tari, the admin there helped us with bike rentals, food choices and places to visit. Mirieka, one of the instructor there was also very welcoming.

We all stayed in the Living Room Cottage which was very spacious, clean, had an awesome balcony and also mosquito nets. Everyday, there will be someone who cleans the room and make the bed too!

The dives with Lumba Lumba was very professional as well. Everything is all done for you too. You just need to check your equipments. That's it. They will set up, carry, change and wash your equipment for you too. What a service!
The guides also split us up into small groups which was easier to control and manage at challenging dive sites.

Food at Barracuda Cafe which is sort of part of Lumba Lumba was really good as well. The chef, Safuan is always super cheerful. But when there's too much to orders in the kitchen, they can be quite slow and sometimes forgetful of your orders.

All in all, I would say that it was a pleasant stay and I wouldn't mind coming back here again.

Hopefully this time with the much renewed dive center as it was under renovation when we were there.

Thank you so much again Lumba Lumba for the hospitality!

Given that the overall standard on the island is very basic it is okay and has everything. That being said, it is still overpriced - the rooms are basic but the bathrooms are really not nice (the toilet does not flush very good, the shower is flooding the whole room, it has no windows and it doesn’t look nice or clean). There are other resorts on the island which cost about the same and are much nicer and more directly on the beach. The whole resort looks like it could use some atlove (there are areas on the premise that look run down and there is a lot of plastic trash on the beach which they could easily remove as the beach is not huge). There are great diving sites (the canyon, bate tokong) with sooo many fish and great coral gardens, and the groups are small. The diving school takes requests but they don’t give any information about sites that could be nice (so research yourself before), they have good and plenty if equipment and offer 3 dives per day. But if they have chosen a diving site and the conditions are not good, they still go and you have to do the dive (we had 3 out of 8 dives with only 5m visibility and everything was green) - we already dove with other companies that then adapted plans if conditions are not so nice. But the guides are friendly and experiences and always made us feel safe. The hotel also offers to rent scooters which is great to explore the rest of the island. So if you just look for an easy and chill place to stay for diving and don’t mind spending more (and don’t care for visual appealing stuff) this is a great spot for backpackers - otherwise research other places.

Hi, thanks for your feedback. Great you still like the diving even though you were not lucky with the visibility these days you were here. We are in a spot where visibility can change from day to day and unfortunately it won’t always help to change the dive site last minute. Although we always do our best to adjust our dive sites or entry points when we see conditions as waves and currents are unfavorable. Your compliments to our guides have been passed on, thank you. Regarding the bathroom, we wish you would have let us know about the problem so we could have solved it. We are close to nature and the jungle. The trees look for water and sometimes the roots succeed to get into the pipes and quickly block the drainage speed. It is something our team will fix as soon as we get the feedback. The dive centre’s renovation is in its very last stage and we will be able to use the renewed reception really soon. You are always welcome back, to enjoy our divesites with the usual good visibility and to enjoy relaxing on the renewed veranda in the dive centre for a complete diving holiday experience in our resort.
