There was nine of us for lunch at this traditional country pub. We were made very welcome. The waiter could not have been more helpful, nothing was a trouble for him. There was a good choice of meals on the menu. The food was all nice and hot and the vegetables crisp. The bar was heated by a lovely wood...

The host. The staff . The layout and decor of the pub was great. Rooms are in a separate block of 9 rooms all with your own private entrance just behind the pub. Best of both worlds - you have your own place and then in 10 strides you have a traditional welcoming warm cosy pub. The beer is a...

Lovely Halloumi salad from the new menu followed by a warming homemade crumble and custard-just what was needed on a chilly bonfire night. The staff were very friendly and service was quick. We wish the new owners all the best.

Here was the ideal place to be following a day on the busy streets of York. Away from the crush of crowds, in a pleasant village, an atmospheric inn and quiet surroundings. The tricky start was finding that our room had not been made up after the previous occupants had left, but the offer of a free drink (readily taken)...

We stayed at this Inn as it was half way from Scotland to Wales. I am disabled and we have two dogs so the ground floor room with shower appeared to be just right for us. When we arrived we had a warm welcome from the bar staff and ordered Sunday lunch which was superb. Local produce all well cooked...

I rang earlier in the day to ask if the pub was dog friendly: it was. Both my wife and I had a great meal helped by the staff. We would recommend this pub as would Layla (our dog), the pub has a large carpark and a beer garden.

Good place to have a pint after a walk through the countryside. Friendly service and a relaxed atmosphere. Seems like a locals hang out. Quiet ambience, perfect for us weary travelers after a long walk. Love the British rules about being able to walk on private property, as long as you don't leave trash.

Rang earlier in the day to ask if the Pub was dog friendly: it was. my wife had business in the village so I of course did a bit of market research in the Bay Horse. I wasn't disappointed! My wife joined me and the dog and had a great lunch, the barman was very attentive to our needs and...

The room was very basic, with few things to recommend. Cobwebs on window and corners. Cleaning was very superficial. Very over priced for what was available. Bed quite uncomfortable and the only chair available was an old dining chair. The pictures look far better than the actual. Cannot recommend this at half the price!

Stayed for one night when attending my nephew's wedding nearby. Room was adequate, a bit faded glory, but very clean and nice quality bed linen. Being in a courtyard area you may need to close your curtains when dressing/undressing, but not a problem really. The breakfast was excellent, choice of cereals, fruit juice, fresh fruit salad and a full English...
