The room was very uninspiring (beige and dark green). The bed was comfortable. The staff were unfriendly and the food very disappointing. Soggy chips were served with every main course and the choice was not very wide. Bessines is a good stopping off point for the A20 motorway and the village has some shops. The cafe in the town square...

This hotel was a bit difficult for me to locate on trip advisor. I would type in Hotel de France, Bessines-sur-Gartempe, and it kept popping up with a hotel de France in Limoges. I almost didn't realize I was trying to leave a review for the wrong hotel until I read a review about prostitutes in a park!!!!!! That is...

Very good hotel with friendly owners. Food very good and rooms comfortable modern and clean. We were on a trip to and from our holidays, and this hotel is nicely situated from the main highway. Still it is a cosy village with lots to see as well. Also make sure to visit he bakery in the morning. The only minor...

Arrived late to this family run hotel found the rooms modern and clean, authentic French cuisine in restaurant which closed a bit early. My visit which was out of season so town is rather bleak and uninviting very little open after 7pm. It is not only the cuisine that is authentic in this part of France the culture and attitude...

This was a one night stopover on our road trip through France. We arrived a bit late to take advantage of the hotel's restaurant which closed at 8-ish pm which we considered a bit early. However, there was a very nice friendly pizzeria less than 5mins walk away which kept more sociable, travel-friendly hours. As we travelled out of the...

This was a hotel of two halves: the bedrooms were modern, clean and well-equipped, and the restaurant was charming and traditional. My wife, 11-year-old son and I stayed here en route from northern France to Cahors, and found the experience very pleasant! We arrived late having got lost in Rouen because (not for the first time in Rouen) we met...

The concept of "Les Villages Etapes" was begun in the Limousin region of France in 1989, the idea being to tempt drivers on the autoroutes to discover relatively unknown villages conveniently close to exit roads. Although we have visited several of the villages (there are currently 32, basically in three separate areas of France), this was our first (and pleasant)...

Stayed here on spec on route to the Pyrenees from Zeebruge, pulled of motorway as sign posted etape village. Hotel front is traditional and old but stayed in room in annex at back. Large room which was nice and comfy - car park just outside was secluded and felt secure as we had a car full of stuff. Ate in...
