The brothers of Society of St. John the Evangelist left The Monastery by 1983. After the building was divided into three structures the central building became a bed and breakfast and Barrie and Madeleine are the current owners. The Palmer room is the size of a hotel suite and one could park a Smart car in its closet. The closet...

Well, we're sorry some things seemed wrong, but at least the dog performed acceptably. Our guest rooms have ample windows, with at least seven in each unit, at least four of which in each unit are properly screened and can be opened. Our location is in a quiet neighborhood, very much "in town", 1.3 km from the town centre, and...

We stayed at this fabulous B&B for 2 nights this winter. The property is located close to the centre of town in a quiet residential area with lovely older homes. The hosts, Barry and Madeleine, are an absolutely charming couple. The breakfasts each day were interesting, well prepared and well presented, and served in a beautiful setting overlooking the forest....

We were in Bracebridge to attend a wedding on October 18 and stayed at the Monastery. We had the wing downstairs which included two bedrooms and bathroom. The walls are very thick and the wing feels very private. We were able to close off the door to the hallway and were enclosed in our own little suite. The owners are...

My husband and I stayed at the Monastery during the Thanksgiving weekend. We fell in love with the place right away. It was cozy, clean and romantic. It was 6 min drive to Muskoka Outfitters where we rented kayaks; 13 min to Santa's Village where we found breathtaking trails, 5 min to all the restaurants and pubs. We will highly...

We stayed there last year. The building is gorgeous and located within walking distance of town. We stayed downstairs and had a choice of rooms. One had too many porcelain dolls so was a bit creepy and dusty rose just isn't a relaxing room colour. We stayed in the other room and found someone's underwear in a drawer. We had...

Great accommodation, great food and hospitable hosts. Relatively short driving distances to Gravenhurst, Port Carling, Huntsville and Dorset make it ideal for exploring Muskoka. The rooms are spacious and the beds comfortable.

We stayed for two nights during the Labor Day weekend and was very delighted with the service, hospitality and accommodations. We wanted to stay at a B&B instead of a hotel and we are so glad we found this beautiful place. Hosts were very polite and very accommodating. We were also treated to thier fanstastic home made specialty breakfastst in...

We stayed here for 2 nights and had a very good stay. The rooms were very spacious (and beds very high!) with water & snacks in the room. You could also help yourself to drinks downstairs. Breakfasts were impressive, if not a little odd. Strange combinations of food, but very well presented. The only thing which let it down was...

Our first bread and breakfast experience was a very good one. The room was very spacious and clean, we had a great night's sleep . Breakfast was amazing, blueberry pancakes and as a bonus they made gluten free pancakes for my wife. Highly recommended.
