Detailed Reviews
The room was loaded with that sweet cleaner smell. The towels were thin and scratchy, the pillow cases were discolored and looked dirty. There was on tiny window in the bathroom for ventilation or you could keep the door open and the WiFi was able to be used if you sat in your car in front of the office only. The beds were just on the ok side kind of mushy. A real disappoint.

If you're looking for an average and inexpensive place to stay in Yarmouth, then this is the place. Our room was clean and comfortable, though rather dated and a little cramped, with a giant refrigerator pushed up against a single bed! We could hear our neighbours (who appeared to be living at the motel) through the wall, though luckily they didn't go to bed too late.
Breakfast was a modest affair. Just a little cereal, toast and coffee setup in the check in area, but it was adequate and included in the price. There is a fabulous pasta and grill restaurant, Marco's, just across the street from the motel. We ate there for dinner and I would highly recommend the seafood lasagna.

We spent 1 night in July and should have realized when they advertised clean something was up.
One little tiny bar of soap for a shower which we didn't take just wanted out of there first thing in the morning. No air, toilet paper 1 switch turned on everything in the room.

Had to head down to Yarmouth to meet with some clients and do some work for a couple of days. This place was excellent. Nice view of the lake, super relaxed atmosphere at night. The gal at the desk was super helpful too when I needed some advice on a store to pick up some things I needed.
They have a breakfast in a bag you can grab on the way out and eat on the way to the job. Saved me time and didn't have to stop somewhere else for coffee and food.
Clean, quick, easy, near town, met a couple of nice people while I was there too. I would highly recommend staying here if you need a place in Yarmouth.

Nova Star is a clean, basic motel with rooms that look across the road to a lovely lake.
We stayed on our way to the CAT ferry to Bar Harbour. The location is quite convenient to the ferry, just a 5 minute drive.
I can not sat enough good things about the staff. Kind and helpful at check in and then amazing later.
I left my phone in the room, discovered this just as we were getting on the ferry. Amanda, the morning staffer brought my phone to the ferry when she got off shift for the day and the ferry brought it to Bar Harbour for me!
Thank you, Amanda! Thank you NovaStar!

The name conjures images of a cheesy western theme but that is not the case. El Rancho is a modest motel with clean, comfortable rooms. My room had recently been painted and was well maintained. The owner was very friendly and concerned that I was all set. The included breakfast consisted of coffee, a variety of juices, muffins, yogurt, choice of cereals and toast. I would recommend a stay at El Rancho.

Hotel is what the others say. It smells musty, however so does any place with carpet near a humid location unless the carpet has been recently replaced, which would mean higher rates. Local homes with carpets also have a simlilar smell.
It's $68 including tax in the high season at El Rancho. As one says, look past the musty smell and it is certainly well kept. I would stay here again. If one needs to pay $10-60 extra for carpets that smell similar +/- at the other 7 hotels in the area, then go ahead.
I see that muffin5734 wrote a post about the smell, then got so excited that the frustration turned to perjury. There is no way this hotel was $150 and the others were $69-$92 according to what was written. Dried blood, raw meat, dirty under the burners - it sounds like a horror flick plot line instead of expectations not being met. tsk, tsk

My family and I Stayed at the El Rancho Motel for 2 nights. We were in Yarmouth for a family rerunion. Not knowing the area at all we relied on another family member to book the hotel.BIG MISTAKE. The first room we were taken to smelled absolutely disgusting and I promptly went back to the desk and told the owner no way we were staying in that room.He then moved us next door which smelled better. We unpacked and immediately headed out to meet with other family.Arrived back late and it stunk to the high heavens. The smell was of must, mold and just overall filth. My Mom and I have asthma so we ended up in the truck to sleep about 2 in the morning. The next morning I went to get my money back for the second night(we had to pay up front)he refused said he would have the maid clean. We returned that night after the family reunion was over the owner said the maid cleaned for over 2 hours.I brought him into the room and showed him the fridge with dried blood from some sort of raw meat from a previous family and took the burners off the stove for him to see. I had to use a butter knife to unstick them from the top of the stove. The bedding was awful and in my opinion she wasn't changing it on a daily basis.I was totally disgusted with this place. We were charged 150.00 per night and everywhere else in yarmouth ranged from 69.00 to 92.00 per night with all the ammenities like pool,or continental breakfast.Overall the experience was horrible and I will NEVER set foot anywhere near that place again.

This motel was disgusting. It was very dirty. The fridge was mouldy and not cleaned.
But worst of all was the bedding. Everything was stained from the bed spread , blanket, sheets and pillow cases. I mean body fluid stains. The pillow case had blood on it. It was horrible. We had to go to Walmart to purchase bedding
as everything else in town was booked. Stay somewhere else not here for 40.00 more.

Was on the phone with the owner trying to deal with a situation, and it was the most unprofessional and most awful customer service. I explained to him the situation that i was going there for an LGBT event and had to cancel one night and he wouldn’t allow me to. I found him homophobic when I spoke to him and he was agressive on the phone. He didn’t care one bit, do not book here.
