Hotel's Favourite
We've been coming here off and on for years and this year decided to make Bayside the focus of our 50th anniversary stay.
Boy, we're we right on the money.
This was everything we expected and more.
They have been constantly upgrading and redecorating so they have maintained the highest standards. Witness the new outdoor pool.
The dining room was outstanding for both breakfast and dinner. Those guys in the kitchen really have it together.
Every staff person has even gracious and accommodating to a person.
It's unreal.
I cannot find one criticism.
Do yourself a favor and book this place but please don't make it so popular that I can't get in next year.

We were looking forward to spending a couple of days at this hotel but I was very disappointed to find a lineup of 5 groups ahead us lined up outside of the hotel when we arrived to check in. It was 30 degrees outside and we were told it would take 10-15 minutes per couple to check in which meant we stood outside in the heat for 50 minutes. We were told the outside lineup was because of Covid 19 but I’m not sure why the lineup couldn’t be inside in an air conditioned hallway and social distancing still maintained. There was only 1 person working the front desk at 4 in the afternoon when everyone was arriving! There was a second computer at the desk but only 1 employee checking people in. The website said there was an outdoor pool and since we were travelling during Covid 19 I was happy to hear that the outdoor pools in BC had reopened under the advice of the health authorities. When we arrived with children who were hot and hoping for a swim we found out that the pool was not open and was told by the front desk that the pool is actually indoor pool. In fact the pool has an open roof but sides around it. When I told the front desk how upset I was that the website said it is an outdoor pool so we assumed it would be open the front desk was less than interested in offering us anything to make up for the misinformation. I have stayed at hotels before that have a closed gym or pool and have always received a courtesy call ahead of time to let us know of the closure and apologize. Even a small token of apology like a free kid’s dinner or a round of drinks in the hotel restaurant would have smoothed the situation. Instead I was told by the front desk that he would be happy to cancel our reservation if I wanted him to. After spending the day travelling and paying $150 to take a ferry to Vancouver Island! The room was adequate but there wasn’t even enough cups in the room for 4 of us. In the evening the hotel front desk was more cooperative and friendly when we requested extra coffee and cream and some cups for the room. Unfortunately, the next day when we arrived back at the room after a day at the beach ( 5pm) and with kids needing baths, the room had not been cleaned which meant there was also no clean towels! When the cleaning staff came in while we went for dinner they had to leave a note to apologize that they had run out of clean wash cloths. We did enjoy the view and the restaurant and the restaurant staff were very nice when we arrived and the reservation we had made was still written on a piece of paper on the desk rather than being added into their computer and so there was not a table available for us. They did manage to get us seated within 15 minutes so it was not too much of a long wait for our hungry children. I did try to locate the hotel manager’s email address to deal with my complaints directly but it is not listed on the website and when I requested it be sent to me via the reservation email address I did not get a reply back. Beautifully located hotel but lacking in customer service and the efficiency of the staff is underwhelming.

First off we want to thank both management and staff for their very conscientious effort of taking precautions to minimize possible exposure to COVID 19.
Our room on the front had a super comfortable king size bed with lots of pillows. The hotel is set well back from the road and was very quiet. The room was spotless and roomy and the coffee maker was a Nespresso model and the selection of coffees were perfect. Quite a change from the insipid coffee that usually comes in a room most everywhere else!
The restaurant offered up a very good supper and their breakfasts were very good as well. Prices in the restaurant were reasonable.
Unfortunately due to COVID the pool and gym were closed but the beach which stretches for at least 1 km. was only a 4 minute walk away out back of the hotel. Our dog loved that!
The only recommendation we would give to management is to put a small inexpensive microwave oven in the room.

The hotel itself LOOKS amazing, aesthetically and the rooms are furnished well.
But it's just lipstick on a pig.
The internet is slow.
It's SO loud here. Mid week and all you hear is doors slamming in the hallway, the TV in the room next to you and the dog barking down the hall. Don't you dare open your window or you'll just hear the people outside on the balcony or in the restaurant or the smokers.
Did you notice the hotel parking lot was empty and think you'll check for a water view instead? That'll cost ya $50 extra with a free serving of "how dare you even ask me" from the front desk staff.
I honestly had a better stay across the street at the TL.
Also...what qualifies as a resort nowadays?
Wiki says "The term resort may be used for a hotel property that provides an array of amenities, typically including entertainment and recreational activities"
I saw an indoor pool and an overpriced restaurant.
There's also a steep gravel path that leads to the "beach".
Beach is in quotations above cause this is just a rocky area where transients hang out.
The parking lot is a gravel area where you will ruin the wheels on your suitcase.
But hey, there's an overpriced restaurant attached if you're hungry.
No thanks.

We booked a night here before our ferry and loved that it was dog friendly. The location is very nice, price was good, and the front desk and restaurant staff were outstanding. The room/hotel decor was very nice as well.
The housekeeping? Not good. At all. Our first room had splatter on the vanity walls. The front desk immediately moved us to a new room without question, which we totally appreciated. In the next room the desk and dresser tops were sticky with what appeared to be food/drink. At this point we were tired from travel and figured another room would likely have some cleanliness issues so we cleaned it ourselves with the disinfectant wipes we brought with us.
Unfortunately, because of the cleanliness issue, especially during COVID, we wouldn't stay here again.

We came for a two night staycation (we live on the island) with our cat. The property was clean, modern and the room was comfortable, well laid out. All the staff were welcoming, despite the stress of working with new covid 19 procedures.
Sanitizing stations were plentiful and staff in the restaurant wore masks. Staff were firm and friendly with customers, guiding them in their safety procedures. A plus for that. We felt safe and well cared for. Housekeeping staff were friendly.
We will come again.

Stayed for 4 nights in a King Oceanview. Absolutely amazing view right on the edge of the ocean. Opened the balcony door in the morning to hear the birds and seals in the bay below. Pair of bald eagles were nesting in the tree next door and watching them was priceless. The room was spotless and beautifully decorated. Bed was extremely comfortable and very little noise transfer from the hallway or other rooms. Nice to have a Nespresso machine in the room and hot water and coffee down the hall every morning. Restaurant was great and also had an impressive view. Staff were superb - especially the very cheerful man who checked me in. I was visiting Parksville for a sad occasion and his warm welcome lifted my spirits.

This hotel was amazing! The atmosphere was elegant, and decor was modern and tasteful. The location couldn’t be beat - beautiful views of the ocean and just a short walk down the path to the beach. A beautiful grassy area with a gazebo off to the side overlooking the water offered a great place to relax, unwind and breathe in the salty air.
The check in process was a bit slow but the staff was friendly and helpful. The bed provided the most comfortable sleep I’ve had in quite awhile and they even gave us a small grab bag with juice, a piece of fruit, and house-made cookies upon check out. The experience was wonderful and we will definitely be back!!

This hotel looks like a relic from the 70’s. The electric vehicle charging station was an extension cord hanging down from a covered walkway. The parking lot was a big gravel lot.
With a hard 4:00 check in time, we expected a line up, and we were not disappointed. Decided to have an early dinner to let the line up diminish. The restaurant was nice, except for the fruit fries covering the window. Food was good but pricey.
Finally made it to the room. Opened the door and the first thing that hit us was the smell. Rather disgusting. Opened the patio door to air our the room, but then realized there was no screen, so who knows what else came in.
The room was very dark and cramped feeling. The bed was hard, and every time one of us moved, the bed moved with us, made it very difficult to sleep. Listened to the people above walking around and listened to the noise fr: the restaurant below.
I was happy to see a bathtub, but quickly realized it was too small to bathe in. The shower pressure was pathetic.
Also, this “resort” is not o; the sandy beach that says Parksville, it’s on a rocky, muddy approach to the beach.
We will never stay there again. It is not a resort, more a glorified motel. This is the third place we have stayed at in the past two months, by far the most expensive and the worst experience.

Stayed one night June 30, 2021. Our room was not ready when we arrived at approximately 4pm, when check-in is suppose to be 3pm. We had to wait in the lobby for 20 minutes with our tired 3 year old for our room to be ready. The room itself was decent. It’s clear they have put some work into the hotel. New carpet, paint, furniture etc. but the old hotel clearly pokes through in the patio door that is extremely difficult to open, the worlds shallowest bathtub and the old fridge that hums loudly. This hotel is definitely not for light sleepers. Our room was not far from the restaurant patio and while it had a nice ocean view, you could hear people on the patio clearly in the room. You could also hear every foot step in the room above and everyone in the halls. The AC worked great but blew directly on the bed and was loud, there didn’t appear to be anyway to adjust the strength of the fan, only temperature. The driveway is easily missed as there is not a clear sign for the hotel. The restaurant also had a limited menu because of some kitchen issue and they didn’t have any kid friendly options. Overall, it’s an average hotel that is tired but it’s clear that it’s trying to be more. We got a great military discount that definitely made it worth it, but I would have been disappointed if I had paid full price.

It was open when we were there in July and it was very good. The patio area may be closed if the weather is not very nice.
Yes. They are very pet friendly and have a number of rooms dedicated to visitors with pets.
There is beach access. Great property.
There is no extra charge for a small fridge and an adequate micro-wave.
