Idea of what some sites looked like. A lot of times private campgrounds are like large parking lots, this was not but did have private camping ground regulation/policy (made sense to us)

Beach Days! No matter where we went there seemed to be water...I think this was Parksville Beach, I could be wrong but we enjoyed them all.

some sites had less trees but there are many sites.

Not the kind of camping we enjoy and probably won’t be back.
I would agree with a previous review that we have smelt sewage a number of times in the past week and it’s stinky, but we spent a lot of our time away from the campground so didn’t adversely affect us.
Kid friendly mostly means turn your kids loose and let them run. The weekends are VERY noisy as kids crowd the pool and playgrounds and SCREAM. Would not recommend having a site near these ‘amenities’.
Pet friendly means you bring your dog and let ‘em whine and bark. Did I mention the campsites are ‘cheek by jowl’, so hope you don’t mind hearing almost everything your neighbours say and having kids on bikes and people with their dogs cutting through your site whenever they feel like it. Premium wifi - ha no way! Can’t even download email let alone anything else and our site was 2 away from a transmitter.
Having said all this the staff are very nice and certainly work hard keeping the grounds clean but It seems an uphill battle with so many entitled campers. It’s a good location to access stuff in Parksville and surroundings and that’s why I gave it a moderate rating.

The RV park was fine, not a lot of trees, sites close together - what one would expect at an RV park. What set this one apart was the staff - they were amazing! Very helpful, very friendly!
Bathrooms and laundry were clean, pool was pretty good, and Wifi worked well.
Not right on ocean, but only a 5 minute drive to the city beach or Rathtrevor beach.
If looking for campground in Parksville with full amenities, I would recommend this one.

What a disappointment, it was our first time and never again! The whole park smells like sewage, they have a huge problem! We were leaving Sunday at check out at 11:00 so our granddaughter wanted one more swim. Pool opened at 10:00, so we waited and headed over right at 10:00 and Tony the manager was there who had been running around all weekend like a crazy person shouting rules “Pool is closed until 11:00 there is no chemicals in it!”!! Quite a few families who were checking out had the same idea last hour swim were also disappointed. So we thought a treat at the store to stop the crying oh no store is closed, So Grandpa who had been getting the trailer ready to leave by 11:00 decide to go have a quick shower before we headed on the long trip home oh no bathrooms are closed!!! Why when people are to be out by 11:00 would you close the pool, store and bathrooms and hour before check out.? It wasn’t a great way to end the camping trip!

We've been coming to Pathfinder since 2021 on our trips to the island.

It's a place our children now look forward to going every summer, and hopefully will be some of their happiest core memories.

The location and amenities are great. They love the playgrounds, pool, store and of course the river! (I love being a walk to the fun 9 hole Brigadoon golf course - bring some clubs!).

We've always stayed closer to the river and have enjoyed our sites in the 50s/60s blocks (really worth the lock fee to get the sites we want). There we have not noticed any odours, and have enjoyed some very large sites (57, 58). We have been fortunate to have had great respectful neighbours everytime we've stayed.

Each year, this park has improved. After talking to their great staff I know that they take all concerns seriously and are striving to improve the experience on all levels. Keep it up Pathfinder and see you next year!

I was visiting a permanent resident of the park as I have done before. I also camped as a guest many times as a child. Unfortunately it gets worse with every visit and conversation with the permanent residences. I was advised that a man has been banishing a hatchet along Martindale rd where I had parked, just outside the park. In enquiring with the Manager Tony if I could park at a residences 2nd parking spot (included in their monthly pad rental), I was told no. Pay $10 a day parking pass like all guests. Cash grab and illegal and just plan wrong and rude. I was not a registered guest. I spoke with many residence of the park about the new owners Pathfinders (2021), formally Parry 's park, and the manager Tony. He does entertain the campers with hayrides and outdoor movies but seems to be trying his best to force out permanent residents to create more profitable camping spots. Ex. $500 pad rental = 3 profitable guest camping spots. This is an estimate based on size of pad lots. Another residence had his friend told by Tony, they could not use the pool. I have been told their rental agreement say no such thing. Tony seems to make rules up to suit his mood. My suggestion for Tony is to be kind and reasonable to "everyone " and put your efforts into the disgusting sewer/septic smell. Not only did I smell it all day but while trying to sleep. Being summer, we had the windows open! I found my visit only hampered by 2 issues. Tony the manager and the most disgusting sewer smell. Try eating a meal while breathing.🤢💩

Best family friendly camp ground we’ve ever been to! The location is perfect, tucked away in a beautiful quiet wooded area right on the Englishman river and only 4min to Rathtrevor Beach. There is so many things for the kids to do. Two playgrounds, a pool, hay rides, basketball court, big chess game, store with all the kids treats (and anything else you may have forgotten), paved paths for the kids to ride bikes and the private swimming spot right on the river! The staff were amazing and had a pirate theme the week we stayed. They went the extra mile, dressing up as pirates while on the hay ride and had pirate themed activities including colouring contest, loot bags, pirate names and more. We stayed 5 nights and didn’t leave for the first 3 days because there was so much to do! Would highly recommend, already booked for next year!

Entire park smells like an outhouse. Sites are very small and there are neighbours within 100 feet in each direction. WOULD NOT RECOMMEND. Bathrooms are disgusting. Pool is so warm that is warmer that it’s not relaxing at all. Will never return based on the smell and how close the neighbours are

Just checked in to find out that our site does NOT have a firepit. Website says there are firepits, yet when we showed up to our site, there isn't one. All the other sites around us have fire pits. So I call the front desk and they say that our site is too small to have a fire pit. I ask them why they don't list the campsites that dont have pits on their website so people know?? Front desk told us to go walk 500 m and see if there's an empty site with the fire pit we can use?? Kids are super disappointed and ruined what was going to be a good family trip. Who would go camping without access to a fire???

The campsite was recently purchased. It’s not even open yet. Apparently ready to open in mid July.
On the Englishman river with a nice spot for swimming. There seems to be a lot of work done to services in sites. New fenced area around the pool.
Unfortunately it’s a dusty, gravel mess. Don’t think there’s a blade of grass anywhere or will there be this year. Price seems rather steep but will give benefit of the doubt. They say they are fully booked. Unfortunately we could not stay or give a proper review as they are not open

Can't say enough about the customer service we received from Tony on our weekend stay with 18ft travel trailer. Also, sites were level and gravelled. Full service. We had site 61 which was right by Englishman River. So nice to go to sleep to the sound of the rapids. All tidy. Good firewood. Well located. Close to amenities and provincial park and beaches. Mature trees throughout. Nice playground and pool. Recommend!
