My husband and I stayed here 10 years ago. Certainly not disappointed going back last week. The staff is WONDERFUL, the food is good, the accomodations comfortable, and the grounds beautiful. Yes... there are other fancier and more expensive places in San Ignacio, but why bother? The Aguado is perfect!!! Thanks, Armenia, Julie, Mercy, Howard, Bubba, and all. All of... More

The hotel can be reached by a short drive over a usual bad Belize road from the Western Highway in Santa Helena, the sister town of San Ignacio. It is well maintained with ample parking, a nice yard, patio area, pond and swimming pool. Pool was not clear, was blamed on the rain but my own experience points to chemical... More

We greatly appreciate your review, and we are glad that you enjoyed your stay. We did however have a pool specialist come in and check out the pool. You were right. it was a mixture of the chemical imbalance and the heavy rains. The pool is now crystal clear and we are in the process of converting to a salt... More

We stayed 4 nights in a comfortable 1 bedroom unit with 2 queen beds. Beautiful Hotel with lush Landscaping and flowering shurbs and trees. Execellent staff and food was great! The pool was nice but it wasn't as clean as it should have been. They cleaned it on our 2 day but still wasn't very clear. Other than that it... More

Thank you so much for your review Donna Orr, and we are thrilled that you found our hotel accommodating. We will definitely pass your kind words on to our staff. As for the pool, we were having some issues with chemical imbalances and have dealt with that. The pool is now crystal clear and we are in the process of... More

We booked three nights here as recommended on lonely planet forum. First of all the hotel is so far away from everything!!! Then the pool stinks and is full of chemical you could always see white stuff on top the water. We had a booking for the cheapest room which was 36,4 USD. They never found our booking even I... I regret to hear about your negative experience while staying with us. I would just like to clarify that the error with your reservation was due to the fact that you were upgraded from the economical room that you originally booked. It was never noted, so we apologize for that. We were experiencing a serious chemical imbalance in the pool,... More

As others have stated, the hotel was clean, a good value and a good place to stay while we did tours of Tikal (Maya Heart) and ATM cave (Pacz). The rooms were basic but ours had a/c, fresh paint and new tile. Plenty of hot water as well. The pool was cold and a little cloudy. Given our busy schedule and... More

Nothing too fancy but the rooms are clean, small pool for the kids to take a "dunk" and we found the seafood dinner very good. Staff at the Aguada are very friendly and accomodating. Previously owned by Bill and Cathy Butcher (just retired), the hotel is now owned and managed by their daughter "Shaloo" who is in the process of... More

Stayed at the Aguada for one week in November. It's not close to the city center, luckily we had a car so transportation was not an issue. I think we were the only guests for the week, so the service provided especially by Julia B was incredible. She was so hospitable and engaging. The rooms were decent, and cable tv... More

We stayed at the Aguada in January 2012. From the moment we walked into the restaurant/lobby we felt warmly drawn in. Rooms are simple but clean and easy to access. Our stay was between Christmas and New Years 2011. It's in Santa Elana, right beside San Ignacio. Easy taxi access to town. The rooms are very affordable, ours was $45 and night, and $55 +tax is as high as it gets. The restautant has great food (the fried chicken and lime drink are GREAT.) You can dine inside or outside.... More
