We booked our RV for an initial 1 night stay but enjoyed it so much we extended for 3 nights. The beautiful location has it all. Lakes, mountains, trees and extensive wildlife. If you are on the Jasper/Vancouver route it is well worth stopping for at least 2 nights. The site consists of accommodation 3 areas, 2 of which are very nice log/wooden cabins and 1 full service RV area. Whomever designed and built the site has done an excellent job. The underlying infrastructure is to an incredibly high standard and the architecture very sympathetic to its setting. The lake is incredible and the free boats/kayaks allow you to enjoy the lake. There are lots of walks to do - we saw wildlife up-close and personal on each one. What really impressed though is the new management team. They took over earlier in 2023 and their attitude is superb which translates to all the staff we met. We had a rather awkward meal at the restaurant with a server who was clearly struggling with tills/orders but observed the mgt providing them with the type of support that will help the individual grow and build confidence. As with everything though this is still a work in progress. If you expect perfection you’ll be disappointed. Here’s a list of some of the “downsides”, many of which I expect Katy and the mgt team to solve; - access road: dirt road in but nothing unmanageable. Some ruts from truck abs but well maintained. - nature: this is a remote place with all the things that brings. Expect mosquitoes in summer; come for the bears, moose etc. - some things need updating: whilst this place has been built to a very high standard it isn’t new and it needs a bit of a sparkle but what is there is fundamentally good and (critically) clean. - restaurant: to manage expectations this needs quite a lot of work on the interior (outside is great), systems (tills), menu (limited is fine but requires excellent execution - currently it’s “OK”) and pricing (deceptively expensive with a hefty 15% service charge for location plus the usual North America expectations on tips). All in though I’d say come here if you can. You won’t regret it.

We loved our stay in this beautiful, remote resort on a beautiful lake. The free to use kayaks and rowboats were a great touch, and swimming in the lake was fun even it chilly! Cabins are spacious and have hard to beat views of the lake. It felt very quiet and peaceful, with few other guests around, even though it was fully booked. Ours was close to the lake / restaurant but some are quite an walk away, if this bothers you, check or request one in the ‘one block’. Kitchens were fairly well equipped although more crockery and cutlery would be helpful (a set of 4 provided for a family of 4 isn’t enough for multiple meals before putting the dishwasher on, or sharing plates). Long drive to supermarket so stock up on everything you need prior to arrival! Sofa bed wasn’t that comfortable but we managed.

It's a very nice place and the only reason for giving it a 3 out of 5 is, we went there with our DP with Jeep in tow. I had sent a message a couple weeks before we left asking about the road in since it didn't look so great on the map, never got a reply and I think I know why. The last 7 or 8KM's is a pretty steep climb up a gravel road with quite a few switchbacks which wasn't bad but the washboard on the switchbacks was terrible and shock the crap out of the motorhome. Once there all we saw were C class rentals and 5th wheel trailers. The other issue was the lady who checked us in wasn't the friendliest person, maybe just having a bad day who knows, On another note the manager was very friendly and from what I saw tried to chat with everyone to make sure all was good. The cabins looked very nice and the camping spots were well laid out with lots of room, paved where you park and grass beside that. I wouldn't take my motorhome there again until the road was better but the the most part it's a nice off the beaten path place to stay.

A lovely relaxed vibe in this stunning location. This place will not be for everyone due to its remote location and the 23km drive on a predictable dirt track, however it is well worth the effort. The staff were very friendly and helpful. Due to the location it is worth getting all your supplies in Clearwater as there is no store on site.

Dear 491frasers, Thank you for your review of our remote but lovely resort. Your review is correct in the fact we are located on a sometimes bumpy gravel road, we like to say here at Alpine Meadows Resort (AMR) "The Destination is Worth the Journey". There is no store on the resort at this time but there are plans to have some supplies at the front office for this year and a full convenience store for next year. And due to our small restaurant The Boathouse reservations are limited so it is a good idea to stock up in Clearwater If you plan to be preparing your own meals. Keep in mind that all of the cabins and chalets have a microwave and small fridge it is only the Chalets and two and three bedroom homes have full kitchens. We are lucky to have a team uphere that enjoy working with our guests to make sure they have an enjoyable stay. Thank you again for your kind words and we hope to host you again in the future. Sincerely,

What a great place to stay, so tranquil ! Loved the lake and being able to use the canoes kayaks etc. A very chilled out place with good accommodation & great views. There’s many walks as well from the site. Only criticism would be around food. Although there is a great restaurant on site, it closes at 9pm and there isn’t anywhere to buy basics on site. The nearest store is 25 mins away and the access isn’t great with a lot of unfinished bumpy roads. A couple of suggestions would be either a small selection of basics that could be purchased on arrival at reception &/or a welcome pack in the lodges - ie bread eggs etc. Other than that it was perfect

Dear Inspire37840730895, Thank you for taking the time to leave a review here on Tripadvisor it is important to us that we get the feedback so we can make our guests stay more enjoyable. Your suggestions are appreciated and we are right now fitting out the front desk area to be able to provide a small convenience store that will be available to our guests with some of the basics and for next year we will have a much larger convenience store located in the heart of the resort. We are happy that you really enjoyed the resort and took advantage of some of our trails that our maintenance department take care of for our guests convenience. We often get the question "do you have a swimming pool"? And of course we say yes it's one km long and a half km wide and we call it Hallamore Lake. You can even go fishing on it or bring your paddleboard or kayak. We do have a hot tub that is the size of a small pool located on the resort as well. Thank you again for your review and we hope to host you and your family in the future. Sincerely,

Family members were able to choose the type of accommodation they wanted (one, two or three bedroom cabin, trailer site). The two 3-bedroom cabins are really impressive and centrally located, next to a common area that has a BBQ, tables and chairs, swings and a small children's play area, an indoor ping pong table, outdoor chess set, horse shoe toss, and a mowed field for badminton or soccer. Use of this BBQ area is first come, first served. There is a $500 charge to rent a larger BBQ area that is also centrally located. We made good use of resort equipment housed near the boat dock on Lake Hallamore: row boats, kayaks, canoe and life jackets. Our two preteen grandsons particularly appreciated the two "kids only" kayaks. Resort staff were friendly and responded promptly to requests. Cabins have modern amenities -- those with kitchens are well stocked with dishes and have a dishwasher. Cabins nearest the lake, presumably the oldest ones, are beginning to show their age but our bed was comfortable and the view spectacular so we didn't mind a bit of flaking paint. We only ate at the resort restaurant once. Our first night at the resort was "pasta night" which turned out to be a buffet with salad and several different types of pasta dishes. Not much protein and no dessert. We had all brought more food than we needed and chose not to eat at the restaurant again.

Response from Jamie Lewis, General Manager at Alpine Meadows Resort

Dear 12326WEjudyb, Thank you for your lengthy review of our resort. We do get a lot of requests for family reunions and have had no less than five here on the resort this season at the time of me writing this response. And we are already getting requests for both family reunions and weddings for next year. Our resort is ideal for such events with the forementioned large BBQ area that can feed up to 150 people at a time, the amenities area that is great for playing the different games from horseshoes, pingpong, basketball, chess and the kids play tower. And of course Hallamore Lake being right or our doorstep is a big plus with all it has to offer from kayak's to fishing. I do apologize for the lack of options you found at the Boathouse Restaurant on your first night, the big issue that we have is the limited seating we have at the restaurant and our ability to feed all the guests that are on site at any given time so we do the buffets to first make sure we can feed as many of our guests that we can and to also provide some time off for our team. There are plans in the works to be able to expand the restaurant seating capacity so we can better accommodate our guests. You are correct about the Chalets closest to the lake or the one hundreds as we call them they were the first to be built on the resort built from 2000 to 2005 and the two and three hundreds built around 2012. We do have plans in the off season to start refitting the one hundreds. Again thank you for taking the time to write your review and please think of us again for the next family reunion. Sincerely,

Lovely resort that feels in the middle of nowhere. Staff were very friendly and helpful on arrival. Our chalet was very nice with good sized clean rooms with a decking area with a view of the lake. We loved being able to swim in the lake and try out their kayaks/canoes/row boats at no additional cost. The dining area was in a nice location overlooking the lake with hummingbirds regularly visiting!

The drive from Clearwater makes you feel like your in the middle of nowhere, and that’s what we were. This place is a gem….. probably the most peaceful place I have ever been to in my life. Immediately on arrival, we extended our stay by one night as it was so incredibly beautiful. The lake has resident beavers, we saw a black bear whilst on the kayak and turtles. The lodge was perfect and the on-site restaurant has very good food for the evening with great views. Breakfast is limited on choice but does the job. Would recommend an evening meal here though. Great stay although not a lot to do direct from the resort of foot…. (Encountered a bear 200m up a track on our walk, so came back!) Oh, and lots of mosquitoes.
