Yet again Emma and Ron made our stay at The Old Excise House one to remember. A fantastic location with views to die for and the best home baking in Islay. What more could you ask for? Well the comfiest bed I've slept in to boot! And we were delighted to discover this year the addition of an Armadillo pod... More

We had a wonderful stay at the Old Excise House in April 2016. The rooms are lovely and incredibly comfortable. There's a communal lounge with a wood burning stove, it's a perfect place to sit after a hard day walking/drinking whisky. Emma and Ron were fantastic hosts and offer the greatest breakfast selection we have ever experienced! The house is... More

We had the best time in Emma and Ron's place. They are as warm and welcoming as it gets. The place is perfectly located for a short nice walk to Port Ellen and the 3 south distilleries (Laphroaig, Lagavulin and Ardbeg), so you can skip the drive and enjoy your tasting. The rooms are lovely, all details are delightfully chosen.... More

We stayed for three nights at The Old Excise House which was delightful. Emma and Ron were extremely helpful, both in seeing to our needs and in making suggestions to help us with our first trip to Islay. The twin bedded room was beautifully decorated and extremely comfortable. Everything was of the highest standard, including the varied and delicious breakfasts.... More

After much research we booked "The Old Excise House" for our whiskey tasting trip on Islay. It is perfect!! There are 2 rooms up stairs with a common living room. As we were 2 couples it was perfect! You are within walking distance to to 3 distilleries, the made-to-order breakfast is great and the view from the room is just... More

Stayed for 3 nights in August. Hospitality superb, especially the home produced and baked food, fresh every day. The rooms were very clean and the hosts were helpful but not intrusive, suggesting lots of local activities and offering knowledge. Would definitely visit again. It was great to have the whole of the upstairs floor with fabulous views of the sea.... More

Ron and Emma provide the best bed and breakfast I have experienced. Whilst they are aided by the stunning location and extremely handy proximity to Laphroiag distillery, they go out of their way to make guests feel comfortable and welcome. We felt less like guests and more like family. From the tea and fresh baking on our arrival, the clean... More

The best B&B that I have stayed in bar none. Wonderful location, especially if you are sampling the wares at the worlds greatest distillery a few minutes walk away. Your hosts are most charming, the rooms beautifully furnished - and the additional dining/sitting area was superb. We took advantage of the sea food platter on our first night - delicious,... More

This was our final stop on a three-week sojourn around Scotland. This quaint but elegant small B&B was one of the highlights. The owners (Emma and Ron) could not have been more helpful - even providing transportation help. Emma is an incredible cook. The location is fantastic - especially if you are touring the Laphroaig distillery. It is an easy... More

Ron and Emma are delightful. They are so accommodating and go above and beyond to insure the comfort and happiness of their guests. Their love of Islay is contagious. Hands down the best breakfast with Emma's award winning jam on toasted homemade bread. Hope to visit again.
