Lovely friendly hosts. Beautiful location to get away from the bustle of city life and to just relax. Wish we had gone a week or two later to hopefully see more fall colours but the place was lovely and relaxing in spite of the rain! Hope to go back again some time in the future. Thank you to Gary and... More

Akane was immaculately clean, excellent service, and very comfortable accommodations. What impressed us most with our stay was the little touches: complimentary chocolates & treats all day long, plush robes, slippers for each guest, expresso coffee maker etc. It's in a beautiful setting (we particularly enjoyed the long walks each day): remote enough to be relaxing but close to Haliburton... Gary greeted us after we got out of our car and stopped what he was doing to show us around the house. Slippers are provided, so we used them. Next Gary showed us the Tassimo beverage maker and a hot water dispenser and many kinds of tea, along with a variety of snacks. There is a microwave and a small... More

For the best of everything go directly to Akane B and B! The atmosphere, the rooms, the food are all excellent! Add to that the hospitality provided by Gary and Meiko, who are just the loveliest of people! We will never stay anywhere else in the Haliburton area again!

We had a wonderful stay at Akane B&B. The location is great as it's close to Haliburton and yet the feeling of serenity in and around Akane is one of being in the countryside surrounded by nature. The accommodation is excellent and the hosts, Gary and Meiko, have thought of everything to make one's stay an enjoyable and memorable one.... More

After a long day on a motorcycle, this was a pure joy to discover. Gary and Meiko welcomed us as if we were old friends. The loft was spotless and amazing. The attention to detail, and design was fabulous, right down to the heated toilet seat ! A soothing dip in the hot tub was just what we needed. Breakfast... More

I love this place and have returned at least 4 times. It is spotlessly clean, beautiful, spacious, with excellent food and very warm, gracious hosts. Typically I stay for 5 or 6 nights while attending the nearby Haliburton School of the Arts. I love the juxtaposition of the busy, creative environment of the school, and the quiet, relaxing environment of... More

We stayed for one night at Akane B&B. Located in a beautiful location this B&B is exceptionally well equipped, clean and comfortable. However breakfast was not up to the mark. Instead of all sweet waffles, fruits and yoghurt, continental or Canadian breakfast should be offered. Some people may be satisfied with waffles, fruits and yoghurt, but this breakfast did not... Thank you for your review. We serve many different offerings for breakfast, all of them are full breakfasts, prepared from scratched. Since we advertise that we serve full breakfasts composed of a combination of carbohydrates, fresh fruits, meats, cereals, eggs, vegetables, juice and coffee or tea, we do not serve continental breakfasts which is a simpler breakfast composed of bread... We absolutely loved our stay at Akane. The Loft bedroom with its cozy bed and spa-like bathroom is amazing. Gary and Meiko made us feel so welcome from the time they opened the door until they waved us goodbye from the porch the next morning. One night was not long enough, we will definitely be returning!
