We visited at the end of October, so we did not expect that the resort would be fully booked. But to our surprise, we were the only guests there. Beautiful resort with 88 rooms. but only two of us. It made it very serene and quiet. We liked that since we had the 22-acre resort just for ourselves. The reason for that was not just the end of the season, but there were a few glitches. Water has higher nitrate and nitrite content than allowable, consequently not drinkable. There are signs everywhere to tell you that. The restaurant was also closed, which is understandable. not expecting they would cook just for us. Otherwise, I would give it 5 stars. The room we had was right on the water. It was a large room (1114) with a fireplace and a separate bedroom, The Coffee maker, fridge, and microwave worked well. It looked refurbished. The bathroom looked brand new. So we enjoyed the visit and went to the dunes, which were great and only 4 minute's drive from the resort, but not possible to walk to them from the resort even though you can see them. Beautiful place.

It was ok. Nice place. Registration area smelled musty. Room was nice with seating area and fridge and outdoor picnic table. Restaurant on site. Waiter wore sunglasses and didn't really have a clue with menu. Ordered a burger asked for medium was told not an option and it came dry and burnt. Pricey for time of year. No one there but 2 other cars

I was so disappointed. We stayed in the Annex and the room itself was okay, but there was a very bad moldy and mildew smell. When we got home, our clothes still had the smell on them. I have allergies and asthma, which hasn't bothered me in years, and I was sick with it for 2 days. I don't know if the smell was in the rugs, walls, or coming from the Jacuzzi but it was very strong from the time we opened the door. Having the windows open didn't help. It was a charming place to look at, and all the out buildings were nice. It was very disappointing to say the lest and we paid a lot of money for our 2 nights. Maybe the other accommodations were okay, but not ours.

This resort is in need of major renovations. The rooms are poor to say the least. Shower is not designed for a 6'1" and requires major cleaning. The sink faucet is so corroded you do not want to even touch them. The furniture must have been purchased in one of the roadside ANTIQUES shops. The curtains and windows are dirty. When leaving our room there was a pond with a condemned bridge, good thing because your sure didn't want to fall in the BLUE water. We went to the restaurant on site called the Restaurant on the Knoll. Only upon entering this establishment did we notice that there was a notice advising guests that due to an elevated lever of Nitrate in the water, it was recommended not to consume the water. Not only would you expect to be notified when checking is, but they didn't provide bottles of water and they charged $4 for a bag of ice the size of the ice bucket provided. We unfortunately dined at this establishment, which I do not recommend. They ran out of food, we asked for 4 different options and each were not available. We felt bad for the waiter as he just didn't know where to place himself. We overheard that the owner has never run a restaurant, NO KIDDING. Apparently staff have mentioned that this place is up for sale. I sincerely hope that the new owners put a serious amount of money to renovate as it is situated in an ideal location. Do not expect a pristine beach. Access to the water is rock and sand with a nice algae border. P.S. If you don't mind dining with SPIDERS this is the place for you.........

Pleasantly surprised, despite all the negative reviews. Our room was located in The Inn, and although dated, it was very clean. Nice fresh towels and toiletries. Bed was very comfortable, and air conditioning worked with no problems. We had a nice little porch to sit on outside our room during the day. The beach was clean.

This is the first hotel room I've ever written. We have stayed here previously but for the price of $300 a night, you would expect them to at least have some WIFI service. We were told to park at the main office and connect to the cell phone tower and then walk to our room to stay connected. Lol. As soon as you walk 2 feet away you lose service.

The water is not drinkable. I was not told when I booked or when I checked in. There was a sign over the sink. The bathroom has mildew stains, grout is not clean. The TV has only boring cable. No ability to log into Netflix or Disney. No Bluetooth or operating hdmi cable. The cable doesn't work well. Slow wifi. Ice is $4 per bag, there are no ice machines, not that you could use ice from resort water source. Our room has a door in the floor over a staircase and a ladder to a useless empty loft. There is only one pillow on the bed. The restaurant has limited service, not open Mon or Tuesday. This is not a full service resort. All the buildings are rundown, shabby and tired feeling. The "beach" is rocky, so no barefoot in the sand. Do not stay here. Overpriced. I will never come back. Very disappointing.

the resort seemed well maintained and clean. rooms were rustic/country style but new, fixtures and mattress seemed new and the rooms were very clean, even public restrooms never had a bad smell or seemed poorly stocked/not clean. the beach area is adequate, however there is one section where the fire pits are that people who were not even staying at the resort would come to. there were people pulling up with their cars and using the resorts amenities without having actually staying there, not a big deal but if your going to charge people 300$+ a night then expectation is that the property remain exclusive to paying customers. good landscaping and staff were friendly. wish the place had more amenities and activities like a store, things for kids to do. the beach was 70% sand 30% pebbles but the water is very shallow even going far into water making it good for families with young kids. i would go here again simply because of the cleanliness of the rooms which i cant say the same about other resorts in this area we have been to.

The main pro of this place is that it’s right on the water and has a semi-private beach. The cons are: - The beach is rocky and covered in goose poop and cigarette butts - The tap water isn’t drinkable (their well has been contaminated by fertilizer run-off) which they didn’t tell us before we got there. - They have no amenities: the pool is permanently closed, canoes or kayaks aren’t included and cost $25/hour to rent - There’s no housekeeping service (though someone can collect your garbage and give you new towels) - There’s no working internet on the site - The staff are nice enough, but seem totally out of their depths. We called ahead of time to ask what was included in the room and the answers we got ended up being totally wrong This could be a nice resort, but for $500 a night we expected a lot more than we got.
