We stayed here one night as part of a Moresby Explorers tour. Scenic and convenient location for visiting SGang Gwaay. Hats off to neighbours and co-hosts Susan Cohen and Goetz Harnisch for amazingly diverse and productive gardens and general ingenuity to survive on the edge of the continent. The guest house is small and very basic. I don’t mind the... More

We were there as part of a MorEx 4 day trip and we had a good experience. We arrived well-informed as to what we should expect, i.e. a very rustic homestead and I had read all the stuff on-line about Goetz and Susan. The place is an old Whaling station now run as a guest house. Yes, they are off-grid,... More

This remote location is in two distinct parts-Susan's house, where one eats, and Goetz's establishment where one stays. Goetz is in charge of the day trips, except the packed lunches which are organized by Susan. He did take us to some great locations, and we were lucky with the weather. Susan's place is funky and congenial, and the cooking that... More

Google Rose Harbour Guest House and you will come across all kinds of stories. You'll learn about the owner, the 'issue' with Parks Canada, and learn about its secluded location. I was on a 4-day Morex tour, and was most interested in seeing Gwaii Haanas, and especially SGang Gwaay. Also, let me preface this review by stating that I backpack... More

We stayed at the guesthouse as part of the 4 day Morex tour and it was great. Beautiful bay with amazing views and an interesting whaling history with remnants scattered about. Goetz was very friendly and helpful as was Susan, her cooking and the garden which most of the ingredients come from are unbelievably good! Some rooms are only accessible... More

We stayed one night at Rose Harbour Guest House as part of our 4 day exploration trip with Moresby Explorers. As another reviewer has stated, options of places to stay on Moresby Island are next to none, except for camping or ME's own floating lodge, and if you want to visit the southern part, this is it. Positives: - Susan's... More

First of all we cannot compare this to hotels in cities. My husband and I arrived at Rose Harbour with a group of tourists and considered this guest house 'luxury' since we were in a remote area. The rooms were clean. The host Goetz gave us full instructions of where things were (e.g. outhouses, shower) and the dos and don'ts.... More

We recently spent a week at Rose Harbour Guest House in Gwaii Haanas National Park Reserve. It’s the only privately owned property within the park boundary on the site of an old whaling station. Travel in the park is by some type of boat or float plane, and all guided trips are understandably expensive and often involve tent camping in... More
