I had a great stay at this lodge, but it was quite different from how I imagined beforehand, and I would have benefitted from a clearer picture of how it was to set my expectations before I arrived. Firstly, do not expect pristine forest. This is very much the 'real' Amazon and I was a little surprised to see how...

We’re an Aussie couple winging it through Peru. The San Pedro Lodge is only around 10 or so kms out of Iquitos - by boat of course. There are plenty of more expensive tours and lodges up the river but we were happy to be close to Iquitos so it was not too far to venture back in if needed,...

We just finished 5 nights at San Pedro lodge, it is truly an amazing place, run by great people. If you're looking for an affordable way to do Iquitos and the Amazon, this is the place. Great tours, great food, great location! You need reasonable expectations, San Pedro is not a spa, nor a five star hotel, it is rustic....

This lodge is awesome! Never had such a good service and for a long time not such a good food! We were picked up in Iquitos by Jino hisself, our guide for the entire time, and he took care for us from the beginning to the end. He organized at least 3 motokarristas for the transport of us and all...

I've written a more comprehensive review on my blog - http://travelling-miles.blogspot.com/2014/03/san-pedro-lodge-iquitos.html?m=0 But in a nutshell, San Pedro Lodge made my stay in the jungle amazing. The staff are fantastic, the food is delicious, and they offer great affordable tours of the area. It's about 45 minutes by boat to Iquitos city, so you're not completely isolated. But it's a great...

This place is not only the cheapest lodge outside of Iquitos, but it provides the best experiences you could ever hope for. The tour guide Gena will keep you smiling with his jokes, which you can understand as his English is great. The three tours took you to many unique places with experiences you would not get in any other...

I spent a few days at the lodge, at the end of my trip to the jungle, because I found Iquitos just a bit too crazy and urban. The San Pedro Lodge was a perfect haven, on the banks of a peaceful tributary to the Amazon, with the clearest, most swimmable water I've seen in that area (and safe to...

From the moment we decided to visit Iquitos, Cato was so helpful on assisting us. We live in Lima, and we wanted and needed a break from the traffic and the daily craziness. We traveled...

We stayed at the lodge fot 3 days and I must say that is was not enough. We wanted to see so many things, but we had too little time. We only did one one day trip, to swim in the Amazon river, where we also weathered a huge storm, which gave us a whole new respect for the mighty...

Official Description (provided by the hotel)
San Pedro Lodge is a rustic lodge located at the end of a small river village inside the Amazon rain forest. The lodge is cozy and offers personalized service, providing accommodation for only 12 people at a time. All beds are equipped with a mosquito net, and you'll find a nicely equipped bathroom and shower in each bungalow. While at the lodge, enjoy leisurely visits to the local village, spot and listen to animals all around, have an afternoon swim in the river, relax in a hammock or join us on the many day trips that we offer. We are happy to offer free shuttle service from the airport/hotel to the lodge. The ride takes about 1 hour from the airport or 1 1/2 hours from Iquitos city center and is an adventurous route begun by motokar and finished by boat. We serve 3 delicious meals per day. Vegetarian meal is available upon request. The meals are all prepared with fresh ingredients and are made from scratch by our excellent chef Clari. Please let us know if you have any food allergies or any other dietary restrictions, so that we can take them into account. When you have arrived and settled in at the San Pedro Lodge, you can take a walk in the little town; San Pedro. The village is located just off the Nanay River, on a beautiful oxbow lake, or 'cocha'. San Pedro is a typical, quiet river town, with just 300 inhabitants, who grow their own food and make a living fishing and selling some of their fruits and vegetables at the market in Belen. There is no electricity yet. People here are content to provide a simple lifestyle for their families, living in their thatched-roofed wooden houses, fishing, hunting, and growing their crops. They enjoy sharing a few beers and a whole lot of laughs. The young play football or volleyball, while the older generation enjoys reminiscing, or sharing the occasional gossip. You are welcome to join any time! The people are friendly, very hospitable and curious to find out more about you. Learn about their history, their way of life, and join in a game of football, and you will make new friends for life. ... more   less
