An excellent place to stay, a bit away from the holiday crowds! Geoff was welcoming, and our room was clean, and had everything needed, and it was lovely to have it open on to "garden". Mind you, being vision-impaired and thinking I had the measure of it, did manage to hit my head on the top bunk rather too often...

We stayed two nights recently for an annual workshop. A group of scientists from all over NZ and Australia. A wonderful venue to get plenty of work done -open plan kitchen/lounge/dining with large outdoor deck - but also 10 mins walk from the beach and 2 mins walk to the start of the Kitekite Falls and other tracks. Made our...

What a lovely Backpacker-Hostel. More than that: a jewel. The rooms aesthetically furnished. The whole architecture creates a warm, peaceful atmosphere. Great kitchen. We booked through BBH NZ. Why they name it Jandal Palace I don't know. Friendly owner. Very good place for surfers.

Stayed here in 2016 after running the Hillary skyrace. I was in a dorm room and although, there were about 6 beds (maybe more), it didn't feel crowded. The bed itself was really comfortable and the room was massive and bright with a balcony attached. The bathroom facilities were really clean and the kitchen was huge and well-stocked. The only...

Located in a beautiful environment, this hostel offers a fully equipped kitchen and a beautiful outdoor area with curious chicken interested very much in your food and even drinks. The facilities are clean, the beds okay. Two things I did not like too much: 1) The prices are a too high. For not even 10 NZD more I got a...

Piha Homestay is, without a doubt, the best hostel I have ever been to. I stayed there for 5 days and have no regrets. It's situated in the secluded piha valley but with easy access to the beach and walking tracks. Geoff has done amazingly well in making the place by hand; there's big glass north facing windows, hidden wooden...

First off, anyone visiting Auckland needs to go to Piha. Secondly, if you're going to Piha, you need to stay here...secluded location, small number of guests, excellent staff, surrounded by trees, chickens roaming free, short walk to the beach...it's a no-brainer!! Only bad thing was that I was only there overnight one night as part of a surfing trip, really...

Only had one night here and it was well worth the visit. Easy walks to the waterfall and the beach. Very comfortable and relaxing place. The two girls working there was very nice and sweet. And nothing beats the fresh layer chicken eggs for breakfast.
